Leadership in Small and Medium-Sized Organizations

The thesis deals with a leadership in small and medium-sized organizations. The aim of the thesis is to analyse leadership in Ferospoj s.r.o. and SATPO management, s.r.o. and to propose them appropriate techniques and measurements to improve their leadership in own companies. It is necessary to distinguish between management and leadership skills since the manager delegates and controls while the leader motivates and leads to the goal. The success of companies is based on the right choice of approach to their employees. The right leader, good motivation and a pleasant environment lead to high performance of employees. A questionnaire method is used for analysis of the leadership in selected organizations. Two types of questionnaire were used. One was for leaders and the second was for employees. Based on the results of the data measurement analysis are proposed steps that could lead to development of the leadership in the particular companies.
Leadership in small and medium – sized businesses

The aim of this master´s thesis is to capture and describe the perceptions and opinions of selected entrepreneurs on leadership in small and medium enterprises. In the theoretical part is outlined the development of leadership, its characteristics, styles and approaches. Among the approaches are the Situational leadership II, Transformational leadership, Authentic leadership and Versatile leadership. Using qualitative research through a semi-structured interview and a written survey, the main factors of the selected approaches that are most frequently encountered in the management of the respondents are described, and the use of the given approach relative to the whole sample is then evaluated. In conclusion, this work focuses on the individual assessment of the versatility of the styles of selected entrepreneurs.
Personality in context of social roles: the role of leader

This thesis describes some of the theories and research available in the field of leadership. It provides a brief summary of selected theories that have been researched in relation to personality characteristics (traits). In the historical introduction the thesis presents approaches and sources of the ideas about leadership, on which the newer theories are based. The main part of the thesis is focused on (1) trait theory and a link between the Big Five traits and leadership prediction, and (2) transformation approach to leadership and a link between the personality traits of transformation leaders measured using the Big Five. In the conclusion of the theoretical part some psychosocial aspects of leadership are described. The thesis also contains a draft of a research design that explores a connection between personality traits (Big Five) of leaders and the most common leadership types (transaction and transformation leadership).
