Analysis of tool steel cracking and a study of its elimination
Tomešek, Viktor ; Polzer, Aleš (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the causes and mechanisms of degradation processes that affect the surface of tools made of tool steel and to design and verify a practical solution that would lead to higher resistance of tools to these processes. Chapters in the theoretical part deal with fracture behavior of the material and the possibilities of its elimination, the experimental part includes testing of the effect of coating on the durability of hot forming tools.
Tool steels
Bíza, Michal ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Molliková, Eva (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the types of steel that are used to produce working tools. There is a classification and the characterization of the most frequently used tool materials in the first part. The second part describes the classification of tool steel according to various criteria, a tool steel production, heat treatment, the structure and the properties of steel used for tools. The last part is focused on the description of the types of tool steel that are classified according to their use in practice.
Heat treatement of tool steels
Kubín, Matěj ; Moravčík, Igor (referee) ; Jan, Vít (advisor)
This thesis deals with heat treatment of tool steels. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part includes marking, properties and theoretical processing of tool steels. It also contains the technique which is used for sample preparation. In the experimental part there is an examination of the two common sold drills. Samples were made from the drill, on which metallographic analysis and heat treatment was performed.
Deformation of tool steels after quenching in vacuum furnaces
Abu Khait, Yosef ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Pacal, Bohumil (advisor)
In this thesis, the deformation stages, which take place in tool steels after quenching in vacuum furnaces, were studied. This study was focused on the heating and cooling conditions during this type of quenching. In the experimental part, the deformation changes in particular samples made of tool steel after vacuum quenching were analyzed. Minor changes in the volume of samples at higher quenching temperatures compared to lower temperatures were observed.
Surface treatment of selected steels using electron beam
Oríšek, Petr ; Jan, Vít (referee) ; Kouřil, Miloslav (advisor)
The thesis aims for the surface treatment of materials using electron beam. It includes a literary research describing physical principle and properties of the electron beam. This research also presents possible influencing of the beam and describes the construction of the device that generates the beam. Various applications of the electron beam for the material treatment are presented in the second part of the paper. Within this thesis an experiment with the heat treatment of the steel surface by the electron beam has been realized. The experiment was aimed at creating a layer as deep as possible without melting the surface. The results and their evaluation are presented in the experimental part of the thesis. The attention is also paid to selected process parameters.
Optimalization of Heat Treatment and Choice of Material for Woodworking Industrial Knifes
Nevřala, Martin ; Zapletal, Josef (referee) ; Kolář, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this thessis is heat treatment and choice of material for Woodworking optimalization. Industrial Knives in conjunction with company Pilana Tools Knives. Knives of this company are used in different parts of the world, among others in northern states too, where are working in extreme conditions about temperature low below of freezing point. That’s why was tested many samples in another working conditions.
The Influence of Heat Treatment on the Structure and Mechanical Properties of Tool Steels
Tobolík, Stanislav ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Molliková, Eva (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the properties of tool steels after heat treatment. The theoretical part describes the properties of iron and its alloys with carbon, and an overview of the use of steel. It is also discussed in detail the heat treatment of tool steels and manufacturing process analysis and metallographic sample. In the last part of the bachelor thesis there are described the mechanical testing of metals. In the practical part it is tested structure and mechanical properties of the selected tool steels for two types of heat treatment and the results are compared with the requirements imposed on it.
List of Tool Materials in Forming Operations
Horník, Tomáš ; Podaný, Kamil (referee) ; Šlais, Miroslav (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis elaborated within the scope of full-time study of specialization B-STI Mechanical Engineering is dealing with forming technologies and choice of tool steels for the production of forming tools. In the initial part of the work we are engaged in forming theoretical background, such as forming resists and shaping rules. Another section is devoted to tool steels and their most frequent heat treatment. In the following section of search is a basic description of the selected forming operations, including the use of machines and tools and highlight of the essential elements of the technology. Requirements for material of the tool are also listed there. The goal of this work is creating steel material sheet for cutting and extrusion tools and dies. These sheets are located in the attachment of this work.
High-Speed Steel Drills and their Uses
Jaroš, Aleš ; Dvořák, Jaromír (referee) ; Sliwková, Petra (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis, as one can deduct from the title, deals with high-speed steel drills and their uses into practice. The problem of high-speed steel is described step by step from division, chemist to heat treatment. Fundamental features of drilling method and tools that are suitable for drilling are described either. The last part of Bachelor thesis is focused on producers and application of high-speed steel drills to practice.
Contribution to the Fracture Behaviour of PM Ledeburitic Steels
Jurči, P. ; Dlouhý, Ivo
The samples made from the Vanadis 6 PM ledeburitic tool steel were surface machined to different quality and heat treated by standard regime of the processing. Three point bending tests were made on processed samples. It was found that the three point bending strength decreased with decreased surface quality. Based on the results it can be suggested that to prevent the cracking of tools in the practice it is essential to make a surface machining (grinding, lapping, polishing) to as high quality as possible.
