Fragments of Landscape

The master thesis Fragments of Landscape explores the meaning of landscape in contemporary Czech art, using an a/r/tographic approach focused on exploring artistic and pedagogical practice through artistic production. Emphasis is placed on the importance of connecting the roles of artist, researcher and teacher. The first part of the thesis introduces the method of a/r/tography, explores the definition of landscape and the characteristics associated with its value, and the contemporary artistic view of landscape within the contemporary Czech art scene. It analyses artistic approaches to landscape and classifies them into nine categories, reflecting the diverse artistic approaches, the author's view of landscape and their influence on the creation and understanding of landscape. The author's own artistic work focuses on the authorial process of landscape transformation and interpretation, based on art field research of the Jizera Mountains and the resulting creation of a network of landscape fragments. The categorization of artistic approaches is the key to understanding the complexity of the creative process. The categorisation implies that the landscape cannot be clearly framed and categorised. Fear in The Space

The thesis deals with the concept of fear in space. Through a/r/tographic research, the author examines the concept and changes in its perception during the process of creating an artistic and pedagogical work. In the first part, the author documents theoretical and methodological framework of the research, designs the research proposal and defines terms related to it. In the second part, the author presents her own way of grasping the concept in the space and introduces the concepts that related with this topic. She researches the concept through the reflection of her own work, both artistic and then pedagogical. As part of her artistic work, the author acquaints the reader with the origin of the artwork and follow-up reflection, from which comes the creation of visual task. In the third part, she analyses the primary documents using three-phase coding and then creates concept maps from the obtained codes, which are used to visualize the display of research results. Pavla Gajdošíková: The Phenomenon of Architecture in One's Own Art and Pedagogical Work (Pedagogical Implications) Abstract: The dissertation looks at the perception of architecture and space in art and explores the possible uses of artistic and reflective processes in learning situations involving students of art education. It is based on ongoing public discussions regarding architecture's influence on the perception of the environment and the associated quality of life of each and every one of us. Thematically, it follows on the author's cycle of artworks titled Subjective Urbanism, which explored the subject using various artistic media. The dissertation makes use of a/r/tography, a methodology that offers a way of understanding a subject of research from three different perspectives (artist, teacher, researchers), thus enabling complementarily structured learning in "interspace." Metaphorically speaking, the subject of architecture and space is approached as an intertwining of these three identities. This also the paper's triadic structure.
