Visualisation of the flow in the ventilation unit
Šebetka, Kryštof ; Fišer, Jan (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the basics of hydrodynamics. The basic principles and functions of flow visualization are described. Different types of visualizations are also discussed, followed by a list of specific visualization methods that are described in more detail. Another topic is ventilation and air conditioning. The thesis includes a short summary of the historical development of ventilation and air-conditioning and brief information about this industry. General descriptions of the components that are most relevant to the industry are also covered. Then the thesis comes to the experimental part, where is description of the ventilation unit inside which the flow visualization was performed. This is followed by the description of the experiment itself, the aim of which was to perform the flow visualization by the smoke method inside the ventilation unit, the construction of which was gradually modified to make the visualization as simple as possible and as recognizable as possible. The apparatus for the visualization is described, as well as the process of gradual development of the unit, how the different components had to be modified to improve the quality of the visualization. This is illustrated in photographs showing the flow before and after the modifications. The last section describes the process of trying to reduce the pressure losses that occurred between the different components of the ventilation unit, which were measured and compared at different stages of the modifications.
Woodgas cooler
Koláček, Martin ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with problematics of designing a cooler suitable for gas produced by gasification of biomass. The current state of knowledge is presented in research part of this thesis. Subsequent design segment contains detailed calculations, design and construction solution of cooler suitable for producer gas. Cooling of gas created by biomass gasification is more problematic than cooling of pure gases or water vapor because producer gas contains many impurities that condense during cooling process and settle inside cooler. Thus, complicating design of effective cooling device. Our motivation for cooling producer gas is increasing its energy density and decreasing its volume. Basic technical documentation of designed cooler is also part of this thesis.
Design of the internal circuit of the system for long-term heat removal from NPP hermetic zone
Zemanová, Silvie ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the safety of nuclear power plants and the design of a system for long-term heat removal from the hermetic envelope of the WWER 440 model 213 NPP intended for severe accident management. The thesis contains a description of the course of selected severe accidents and the causes of their occurrence and presents approaches (the concept of defence in depth) and measures (implementation of new systems) by which operators aim to prevent and prepare for their management. The practical part of the diploma thesis is devoted to the design of the piping route of the long-term heat removal system (dimensions, material, wall thickness, layout) and the calculation of the hydraulic losses of this route, it also deals with the conceptual design of the heat exchanger for the above-mentioned emergency system and its thermal calculation.
Hydraulic losses of electric inverter coolers
Sněhota, Daniel ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis compares two electric inverter heat sinks with the same geometry but manufactured using different technologies. The first part briefly discusses the categorization of heat exchangers. The second part describes the differences in the manufacture of the heat sinks: one through milling and the other through SLM 3D printing. Subsequently, the achieved surface roughness of both heat sinks is measured using a microscope. Finally, pressure loss in both heat sinks is measured, and the acquired data is evaluated. These results enhance our comprehension of the impact of manufacturing technology and surface roughness on pressure loss in small heat sinks.
Design of Cooling and ventilation system in family house
Bíza, Michal ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Pech, Ondřej (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the design of ventilation and cooling for the family house. The first part of the thesis deals with possibilities of ventilation and cooling, air ducts and their components and selected ventilation units. The next part deals with the analysis of air-conditioning routes, their dimensions and pressure losses. Then the heat gain is determined, and cooling is proposed. The last part deals with the comparison of financial costs for purchase of all components for ventilation and cooling, assembly, installation and operating costs. The enclosed drawings and item lists are at the end of the thesis.
Effect of the turbulence model for simulation of air flow around flowmeter
Vlček, Josef ; Havlíková, Marie (referee) ; Šedivá, Soňa (advisor)
Purpose of this thesis is to check influence of turbulent model used for simulation of flow close to primary elementi inserted into piping. The goal is to check if results computed by these models are equal and how precise is their prediction.
Environmental solution of the theater hall building and studios in Brno
Znebejánek, Jiří ; Jelínek, Ondřej (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
This master thesis has two goals: First is to design a Permit Set of Drawings for a combined building of studios, classrooms and theather hall with neccesary auxilary facilities in Brno. Building is detached, five-storey with a basement. In the basement there are garages, theather hall with with facilities and HVAC technologies. The load-bearing structure is prefabricated reinforced concrete frame with ceramic masonry envelope and partitions. Roof is designed as a flat green roof. Building should fulfil the passivhaus requirements. The second goal of the thesis is to assess and compare common metal-based air-conditioning tubing with system based on stone-wool materials called CLIMAVER. The assessment and comparison is based on experimental measurements of the systems’ pressure losses.
Cleaning of ventilation systems and potential energy savings
Lapáček, Milan ; Rubina, Aleš (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is to explore fouling of air ducts and its influence on energy consumption of HVAC systems. The first part focuses on typical parts that create the IAQ in buildings and on evaluating energy consumption of air transportation. The following section deals with the theories of fluid flow, flow regimes and pressure losses that are created as a side effect. The thesis outlines possible methods of assessing the impact of pollution with an emphasis on pressure losses and their influence on the fan power consumption. The actual experimental measurement, conducted in a selected industrial plant, is focused on an influence of cleanness of textile diffuser on HVAC device power consumption. For the further research of this process, measuring equipment with suitable measurement method is designed and constructed.
Simplified modelling of tube bank heat exchanger in CFD
Cacková, Tereza ; Juřena, Tomáš (referee) ; Vondál, Jiří (advisor)
The master thesis deals with the replacement of heat exchanger surfaces during simulations in the ANSYS Fluent. The aim of this work is to find a simplified model of the heat exchanger usable for flow simulations in large process and energy units, where it is not possible to model the entire heat exchanger in detail. The calculation procedures are applied to „tube bank” heat exchanger. The master thesis is divided into three parts. First part deals with pressure losses. The "porous zone" approach is used as a replacement for the heat exchanger surface. In the second part, the heat transfer by convection and conduction through the heat exchanger is replaced by the "Heat Exchanger" module. The third part examines the influence of material properties, heat source and fixed temperatures on incident radiation. All calculations resulting from the methods are performed using a script that prepares the output data in format suitable for insertion into ANSYS Fluent. A simplification, which faithfully replaces a fully modeled heat exchanger, has been found in all three parts of the thesis.
Losses at flow through pipe at pumping of condenstate and their influence on working point of pump
Molák, Filip ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to describe the process of condensate pumping and problems connected with it. The introductory part is about cavitation and its consequences. In the next part are briefly described types of pumps which are used to pumping condensate and also there is spoken about the selection principles. The last part is dedicated to the selection of a suitable pump according to the specified parameters.
