Practical use of Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary School

The theme of this diploma thesis is Practical use of the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary Schools. The main purpose is to chart current status of a theme of botanical garden in curricular documents, namely The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education and School Educational Programmes of chosen elementary schools located in Prague 2. Further, the presence of this theme is explored in the sample of schoolbooks for the 4th and the 5th grades of elementary schools. There is a questionnaire survey realized among teachers of the 4th and the 5th grades in the schools listed above. The aim is to find out, how much the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague is used for practical education. The results are shown in charts and graphs. The readiness of this botanical garden for practical education of lower grades pupils is found out by an interview with its vice-director. The next part of thesis contains planning and realizing a lesson with the 5th grade pupils. The lesson demonstrates a possibility of more frequent practical education in the botanical garden. Afterwards, the possibilities of using this particular visit of the botanical garden are analysed in relation to Natural Science...

The diploma thesis Cross-curricular Links Matching Proposed Curriculum for Lower Primary School deals with an issue of cross-curricular links and their usage in Maths teaching. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part provides an analysis of issues of cross-curricular links and curriculum integration, it introduces The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education, characterises a curriculum of Maths and its application and other areas of education with which a link within the practical part was implemented. It also summarises important features of a Middle Primary School child and it surveys a quality of cross-curricular links usage in contemporary textbooks of Maths. The practical part contains a set of exercises that combine curricula of two areas to apply the cross-curricular links which are intended for practical usage in teaching at Lower Primary School, and evaluating part that describes and evaluates a practical course of implementation.

Title: The comparison of the conditions for teaching Educational area of Man and Health in primary and secondary schools Objectives: Research whether schools have such conditions for teaching Educational area of Man and Health in order to achieve the objectives of framework educational programs. Research basic information about the structure of PE teachers in primary and secondary schools and on the structure of PE teachers in Prague and Pilsen region. Research the different conditions of teaching Educational area of Man and Health in primary and secondary schools in Prague and Pilsen Region. Propose appropriate solutions to improve the situation. Methods: We used for comparison of results of non-standardized questionnaire containing mainly closed types of questions. The questionnaire survey was for PE teachers in elementary and secondary schools. The surveyed regions were Pilsen Region and Prague. Results: We found that overall conditions in schools meet the standards of basic curricula. Overall conditions prevent attainment of the objectives and tasks set out in the basic curricula. Conditions for physical education are demonstrably better at primary schools than at secondary schools. Higher educated teachers are located at secondary schools and in Prague Region. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of the local region and its position in educational programs. The practical part deals with the knowledge acquired on the basis of empirical research. It summarizes the findings on ways of teaching in primary schools and high school and results that students achieved in the Knowledge-questionnaire. On the basis of this investigation suggest your own design concept of teaching Blatensko, based on the current Framework Educational Programme for Primary Education.
