Ronald Inglehart's theories and their contribution to historical sociology with regard to the publications since 2000.

This diploma thesis aims to map the work that Ronald Inglehart published after the year 2000 and to include it in the concept of historical sociology. In my work I deal with a total of seven books, which I subject to critical reflection and at the same time I compare with other authors who commented on the given topics. The work will touch on theories of modernization, democratization, secularization and to a lesser extent civilization analysis. I will also add remarks and observations from the point of view of quantitative methodology, as Inglehart's theories are based on a large amount of quantitative data based on questionnaire surveys. The first part of my work deals with modernization theory, the next part deals with secularization and the third part focuses on the analysis of civilization. In modernization and secularization, I will first introduce versions of the theories that Inglehart and co-authors published during the first decade of the 21st century. After that, I will always reflect on recent work (2017- 2021). In the civilization part, which is the shortest, I will summarize his findings across his work. Concept of The Environment in expert view of Czechoslovak architects 1960-1971

This study analyses the concept of The Environment among Czechoslovak architects and on the field of architectural theory in the 1960s. Environmental problematic was frequent topic across different expert groups since end of the 1950s and especially in the 1960s. Architects was one those groups and they actively further developed this concept of The Environment and environmental problematics during 1960s. This effort had brought interesting theoretical concepts and ideas and was also influenced by general Czechoslovak intellectual milieu of 1960s. Architects also started to critically address the degradation of natural environment due to increasing industrial pollution. They also accomplished several successes on the field of environmental problematics. They managed to establish specialized field of study and played a key role in some international conferences and meetings dealing with environmental problems under UNESCO, OSN or International Union of Architects. This study indicates some of yet not well known intellectual riches of Czechoslovak 1960s and also points that continuous environmental degradation during the reign of communist party was not caused by insufficient expertise and the source for this major problem should be further researched. Travel Guidebooks to Prague, 1789-1914: Production, Authors, Collective Memory.

(in English): This study analyses Prague travel guides created in the course of the "long" 19th century. In the beginning, I outline the development of travel guides in the examined period with respect to their authors and targeted audience, and put them into the broader context of social modernisation. Subsequently, I introduce agents who stood at the birth of travel guides and demonstrate how their intentions changed within the context of the rise of modern nationalism and mass tourism. Relaying on the concept of collective memory suggested by sociologist Maurice Halbwachs, the last part of the work is based on the assumption that modernisation process enforced changes in this collective memory and that tourist guides mediate access to these past memories. That is why in these guides I focus on the question how memories of social groups relating to various "places of memory" were changing during modernisation. In this way, the presented study aims to contribute to the appreciation of travel guides as a historical source, while at the same time it offers insights on their possible scholarly utilisation.
