Development of tourism in term of sustainability a case study of Tanvaldsko

The main goal of this work is to assess the sustainable development of tourism on the example of Tanvaldsko. This includes two sub-objectives. The first is an analysis of the development of capacities and attendance of collective accommodation establishments over the last 15 years. Data from the Czech Statistical Office are used for this. It was found that there was a decrease in accommodation capacity. Attendance developed more dynamically, yet overall there was also a noticeable decline, except for the years 2017 to 2019, which were the most successful in terms of number of tourists. The second part deals with the records of implemented projects to support tourism and their assessment in terms of sustainability based on established criteria. Most of the information comes from tanvaldsko.info. These projects are mainly focused on the promotion of the Tanvald region or the development of cycling tourism. Overall, they are undoubtedly beneficial to some extent, however, the absence of their retrospective evaluation and assessment of the impact of tourism on the 3 pillars of sustainable tourism development can endanger long term sustainability here and in other destinations as well.
