Comparison of body composition and physical level of students of the Military Branch at FTVS UK at the beginning and at the end of their studies.
Gacek, Tomáš ; Sovák, Libor (advisor) ; Oláh, Vladan (referee)
Title: Comparison of body composition and physical level of students of the Military Branch at FTVS UK at the beginning and at the end of their studies. Objective: To evaluate the results from the measurements of the members of the VO FTVS UK at CASRI, what changes occurred in terms of their physical performance and body composition in the beginning and in the end of their studies. Method: Paired t-test was used to analyze the data of members of the VO FTVS UK who successfully completed full-time undergraduate and graduate studies. These were data from 8 males (age 24,3±1,5; weight in kg 79,3±6,1; height in cm 179,5±5,8) and 1 female (age 24; weight in kg 66,9; height in cm 171) from measurements at CASRI, which tested physical level on a stepwise test (on a treadmill) and body composition on the TANITA MC-780. Results: Paired t-test analysis of the data confirmed a statistically significant difference in muscle mass gain (mean difference=3,14 kg; p=0,0007) at the end of the study. On the other hand, during the stepwise test, there was no statistically significant difference in final heart rate (mean difference=0,58; p=0,9394) or lactate levels (mean difference=0,66; p=0,1639). Based on this measurement, it can be concluded that there was no statistically significant deterioration in physical level...
Changes in nutritional status during high-dose chemotherapy in selected hematooncological diseases
Křivánková, Jana ; Szotkowski, Tomáš (advisor) ; Káňová, Marcela (referee)
Hematooncological diseases are often accompanied by dietary restriction, especially in cytotoxic therapy. The main purpose of the work was to assess the effect of high-dose chemotherapy on the change of nutritional status in two groups of hematooncological patients. A total of 16 patients were enrolled. Changes of the body composition were evaluated using bioelectrical impedance analysis supplemented by monitoring of biochemical nutritional indicators. Observations showed that in both groups the majority lost weight. In the first group of eight patients with acute myeloid leukemia observed during three consecutive hospitalizations, the median of change of body weight was -3.7 kg (-4.3%). Loss of lean body mass with a median value of -4.8 kg (-7.2%) was detected at all patients. Body fat was reduced at half of the patients. In some cases, with length of observation, there was an increase in fat mass along with visceral fat. In the second group, which included eight patients (after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) at whom one hospitalization was evaluated, body weight was reduced at six patients. The medianof change of body weight was -2.1 kg (-2.3%). At five patients, the treatment representeda loss of active metabolic mass. The change of the weight of the lean body mass was shown...
Intervention program XY and its effect in weight reduction
Wolf, Anna ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Intervention program XY and its effect in weight reduction Objectives: The main aim of the master thesis was to find out the influence of a commercial intervention program XY containing nutritional recommendations on selected indicators of physical fitness and body composition Methods: This thesis was implemented as a quasi-experimental study in which the results were evaluated by both quantitative and qualitative methods. Results: We can evaluate the results in two groups, namely according to the results of body composition and the indicator of physical fitness. In addition to the long jump test, the mean values improved statistically significantly (p <0.05) in all monitored variables. In general, the XY intervention program aimed at weight reduction can be evaluated positively. Key words: obesity, body composition, unifittest (6-60)
The issue a knee injury in the athletics (case study)
Petrušová, Kateřina ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Komínková, Linda (referee)
Title: The overview of knee injury issue in athletics (case study) Student: Kateřina Petrušová Supervisor: PhDr. Aleš Kaplan, PhD. MBA Aims: The aim of this thesis was to analyze and go through different recondition program processes, set together for and apply recondition program on particular athlete, all this based on the study of literature directly related to knee injury in sports and athletics. Next to realize case study and thanks to different tests evaluate based on various indicators the efficiency of recondition program on selected indicators by athlete and student of UK FVS after injury and arthroscopy of a knee. Methodology: After initial literal research the recondition program was settled and was applied to the probant. During the recondition program were monitored parameters of body structure on Tanita BC 545, parameters of bottom limbs circumference and further the stability level, sensomotorics and symmetry using the MFT S3 Check device and finally the dynamic stability on Y Balance Test device. Results: I studied a lot of literature, which was directly related to knee injury. I read through 12 foreign and Czech titles. Especially abroad the knee injury problematics are often mentioned. Regarding the influence of athletic training on different parameters of the probant I indicated...
The level of selected indicators of body composition and handgrip strength in sporting youth in the Czech Republic
Bednaříková, Anna ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Chrudimský, Jan (referee)
Title: The level of selected indicators of body composition and handgrip strength in sporting youth in the Czech Republic Objectives: The main aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out differences in selected indicators of body composition and handgrip strength of sports youth in four selected regions of the Czech Republic. Methods: 1188 children participated in a cross-sectional study. Participants were recruited from the sports festival for children Sporťáček in these selected regions: Prague, South Moravian Region, West Bohemian Region, and South Bohemian Region. Results: The average age of the study population was 8.8 (2.7) years. There were 51% of girls in this survey. The largest representation was in the South Moravian Region (38.8%), Prague was the second largest region represented by 37.5%. Conclusions: Selected indicators of body composition as well as handgrip strength differed statistically significantly only slightly across the selected regions. Key words: body composition, handgrip strength, skeletal muscle mass
