Terrasson's novel Sethos and enlightenment egyptomania

This bachelor thesis is focused on reconstruction of view to ancient Egypt in age of Enlightenment before resolve of hieroglyphic writing. On quated philosophical works is tried to present opinion of some philosophers on ancient Egypt. Main part of bachelor thesis is based on enlightened novel Sethos, written by priest Jean Terrasson. It narrates plot and focus to compare religion and rituals of ancient Egypt in novel and in reality. Also focus on life of author and his setting to contemporary context. The last part of this work is comparing ancient Egypt rituals with ritual of Freemason. Brief history of Freemasons is also mentioned in this work.

The thesis analyses the motives of charity and its various forms in the present society. It builds on the critical theory of "studying up", formulated by Laura Nader in 1970s. It considers the difficulties of ethnographic research in an unequal-power terrain, where the anthropologist finds himself in an unwelcome position. Based on a one-year long research of Rotary clubs, the thesis examines the question of whether the charity is a pure act of altruism, following of self-interest, or a combination of both. Charity has lost its significance from its original Christian form over time. Today, it takes the form of a successful marketing tool. For someone it may mean caring for the disadvantaged, for another a simple tool to ease his conscience; for others a convenient pretext for the setting up of a private club. Charity in some respect replaced the Christian confession and like other commodities in the neoliberal system is consumed without creating a long-term relation between the donor and the donee. Rotary International is a worldwide network of private clubs, among its members are leaders in the financial sector, health care, public administration, journalism and science and research. Freemasonry in the Course of the History

Freemasonry in the Course of the History. The present work deals with the historical development and function of the organization of the brotherhood of Freemasons. Based on the available literature, this work tries to summarize especially the mythical aspects of the modern history of the organization after 1717. An emphasis is placed on the development of the English and French Freemasonry, but this work also briefly introduces the reader to the situation in other European countries and in America. Furthermore, the work deals with Masonic symbolism, which is an integral part of the organization and certainly essential to a sufficient understanding of the organization. An important chapter deals with initiation the ceremonies and the rituals that illustrate the general idea of Freemasons. In conclusion, the paper presents an analysis of the relationship between the organization and the Church, in historical context, and the position of women among the Masons.

This master thesis deals with the spiritual progress pointing to a national self-awareness in the Enlightenment era from the beginning until 1848. The Enlightenment is an European phenomenon, which is characterized by a change of thinking, and self-awareness. This idea of tolerance and human emancipation contributed to the reforms of fundamental social, political and ecclesiastical changes. These changes result not only from a philosophical influences, but also from royal reforms during the reign of Maria Theresa and Joseph II in particular. Working on the character of Tamoni in The Magic Flute

This bachelor thesis titled " Workong on the character of Tamino in The Magic Flute" is intended to familiarize the reader with the author´s work on the role - play in the staging of the opera The Magic Flute. It also shows the reader how such preparation of the singer should ideally look like. The author focuses on W.A. Mozart and also on circumstances that influenced his work, especially on the influence of Freemasonry. The thesis reveals the symbolism of Freemansonry, its elements used in the opera The Magic Flute and connects them primarily with the character of Tamino. The author also describes the whole process of rehearsing - singing staging, stage rehearsing and rigours of this creative process.
Terrasson's novel Sethos and englightenment Egyptomania

This bachelor thesis is focused on understanding of the early egyptomania, namely a detailed analysis of the French novel Sethos. On quated philosophical works attemps to present opinion of some philosophers to ancient Egypt. The aim is to analyze religion in the novel and to contribute to the view that the interest in ancient Egypt counts before Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. To this view, the work seeks to reach using selected philosophical and contemporary works by comparing the rituals of Freemasonry and the ancient Egyptians focused on the so-called ritual of the four elements. The main part of the thesis is based on the novel of the enlightened priest Jean Terrasson - Sethos. The thesis summarizes the plot and focuses on the comparison of ancient Egyptian religion and rituals in the novel with reality. Also on the author's life and its integration into contemporary context. The second part of the essay is based on a philosophical view of Athanasius Kircher, Voltaire, Giambattista Vico and Johann Jakob Brucker. The last part of this work compares rituals of ancient Egypt with rituals of Freemasons. Brief history of Freemasons is also mentioned in this work.
