Zaimović, Enes ; Gelnarová, Jitka (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the Czechoslovak Protection of the Republic Act, it refers to historical circumstances that led to it's enactment and provides comprehensive picture of the political debate on the Protection of the Republic Act among the most significant political parties of the First Czechoslovak republic and their party press organs. The aim of the thesis is to answer questions related to the way the most significant political parties approached the Protection of the Republic Act, the way they framed the Act as an object of framing and the way they expressed their stances on the Act to the public. In pursuit of fulfilling these particular aims, this work will analyze the historical materials including the newspaper editions of the political parties press organs and speeches of the political party members in the Chamber of Deputies of the National Assembly of Czechoslovak republic. During the analysis, this work will as well use framing analysis as an instrumental prerequisite for reconstructing individual frames applied on the Protection of the Republic Act by the political parties of the Czechoslovak republic.
Regulation of media during the election campaign in Czechoslovakia in 1946 and 1990
Pařízková, Nikola ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The thesis deals with election campaigns in media during founding elections in Czechoslovakia in 1946 and 1990. The importance of those elections derives from their character of being the first elections after a regime change. Based on a comprehension of historical context, characterisation of the media system related to regime change and particularly an analysis of specific expressions in election campaigns, the thesis aims to understand the functioning of media in given periods. The qualitative content analysis examines party newspapers of two relevant party bodies in given years - Rudé právo of Komunistická strana Československa and Svobodné slovo of Československá strana (národně) socialistická. The electoral campaigns in question largely reflect the dynamical processes associated with the period of transition. The concept of campaigns in 1946 is determined by the already established position of Komunistická strana Československa whose influence was wide. This party was controlling the functioning of media during elections even though the media system had already been emancipated after the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. In 1990 we can conversely observe peremptory campaigns calling for democracy. Campaigns reflect the controversial position of KSČ in this year - Svobodné slovo appeals to...
Founding elections campaign analysis: Czechoslovakia in 1920, 1946 and 1990
Pařízková, Nikola ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Miloš (referee)
The thesis deals with founding elections in Czechoslovakia in 1920, 1946, and 1990. A typical mention of these elections would describe them simply as the first elections after a regime change, and go no further. This diachronic analysis, based on elections campaigns as recorded in party-aligned newspapers, attempts to depict the broader aspect of founding elections and recapture the dynamic processes typical for such transition periods. Election campaigns are strongly influenced by the special character of founding elections. Campaigning not only reflects recent changes in the society but also formulates demands on its future development. Perceptions of the current situation reflect mutual relationships in between parties. The resulting character of election campaigns is a combination of these factors, plus others such as the media scene or the general mood in the society. The thesis thus tries to understand how political subjects behave in their founding election campaigns. Even though this behaviour varies wildly depending on background conditions, all political parties tend to focus their campaigns around the future course of the country.
