Pathological gambling: betting and gambling in the life of sport journalists

This thesis deals with the definition of the concept of pathological gambling, diagnosis, prevalence and a description of vulnerable groups. It also discusses the creation, development and various stages of pathological gambling. Theoretical knowledge is enhanced by our own research, carried out a questionnaire, which has pointed out that the profession can be a risk factor for developing an illness / addiction. The research objective is to describe the rate and quality of risk-taking behavior in gambling on sports editor, and identify any related pathological gambling with their selected characteristics. The paper looks at what it looks like gambling and betting on sports editors in terms of rates, forms and circumstances. Whether the people in this group of pathological gambling occurs and, if so, to what extent and with what consequences. They try to answer it then also, what is the relationship between work characteristics and playing sports editor of gambling or betting. The thesis covers a transition of the Czechoslovak Television from state-owned television to public service institution during the media's tough times from the fall of Communist Regime in November 1989 until the end of 1992. To complete understanding it notices the creation of Czechoslovak Television as well as outlining functions of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in times of its evolution. The thesis trails connection between Czechoslovak political evolution and social evolution and Czechoslovak Television in totalitarian times. The main attention is devoted to communist secret agents functions in society and companies, Lists of StB (State Secret Security, secret communist police) secret cooperators as well as Cibulka's unverified Lists of StB secret cooperators. There is also media's view adding to their illegal leak out from the Czechoslovak Parliament. It escalates with sports commentators Ivan Ninaj's departure from Czechoslovak Television in 1991 and Jan Lacko's departure from Czechoslovak Television during the ice-hockey world championship in 1992 - both were departed because of their affirmative vetting (document proving cooperation with State Secret Security). The history of the sport department of czech television 1993-2015

This diploma thesis Historie Redakce sportu České televize v letech 1993-2015 describes the sports broadcasting in the Czech Republic (and Czechoslovakia) from 1989 to 2015. The author explains the most important milestones in the history of Sports Department of Czech Television. The description goes from the constitution of the department over the circumstances connected with the inception of the channel ČT sport, the changes in the organization, personal composition and editorial leadership up to the current form of the department. The thesis also contains the development of sports news, live broadcasts, television technology, Olympic Games, football and ice hockey broadcasts and the importance of the Internet utilization for sports department (abbr SD). The essential parts of this thesis are more than 30 interviews with editors of SD involving their own opinions, authentic experiences and stories. The thesis also reminds some of the long forgotten facts and answers many questions regarding sports broadcasting in the past, present and future including the outlook towards the year 2024. Furthermore, it describes activities of sports editors, commentators, moderators, directors, cameramen, producers and other employees of Czech TV.
