Štěpánová, Marie ; Brožová, Věra (advisor) ; Hrabáková, Jaroslava (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the personage of Ferdinand Kafka (1841-1925), a representative of period cultural and educational activities in the context of the Malé Svatoňovice area, at the utter end of Czech lands, lying at the sharp Czech-German linguistic line. Public activities of Ferdinand Kafka occur in the second half of the 19th century and the first two decades of the following one. The case study is on a topic which has never been researched, and works with a historical-comparative method that draw from a large amount of primary sources, such as from personal archives of Kafka's family or the document collection of the amateur theatre. This profile takes notice of Kafka's life events, family and social background, and, above all, of his work for the region. We can find Ferdinand Kafka as a council man, responsible for decision making in his home town, and as a speaker of the people, ensuring communication between inhabitants and their aristocrats. He is described as a folk writer and a gifted public narrator. This follower of revivalist traditions contributed to national culture also by the foundation of a large number of local Czech educational guilds, such as the readers'company. The largest space is dedicated to the local theatre which Kafka helped to construct and where he performed and...

The New Vyklice Project The Memory and The Society Activism in the Effort to restore the defunct Commune in Ústí nad Labem Region
Růžičková, Ivana ; Zandlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
The subject of this thesis deals with the project of restoration of the defunct village Vyklice by society of its former habitants. This project is unique for they are the only former habitants of a commune that had to be liquidated due to the coal mining who are striving to restore it under the same name and on the same place. The answer to the question where has this idea appeared led me to the analysis of their society activism. On the background of their attempts I have identified wider "community of memory" of former friends from Vyklice. These people had been involuntarily displaced from their rural environment and resettled in the nearby housing estate. After that they felt nostalgia for their lost homes and were reflecting that on spontaneously formed reunions. The main subject of their recollections was the former society life in Vyklice. The most active ones in the community have than created a new "society", Society of inhabitants of Vyklice, among others to try to restore the old Vyklice. At first the idea was only one of the means to enhance their memory activities. Gradually, along with the political support of their effort, the project had become the main goal of the society, which still allows the whole community of memory to be continuously reaching their original goal, which was to meet...
Czech Architect during the Political Changes after 1989
Ševčíková, Lucie ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
In this thesis, the author wants to deal with the broad spectrum of the contemporary Czech architecture. However, the phrase "Czech architect" appears in the title to show that this thesis is not a critical analysis of the stylish development of Czech architecture, but rather a search for links and inspirations that define the modern architectural profession in Czech society. These links and connections are deeply rooted in architects' experiences before and after the political regime change. The author feels that the architects' understanding of today's society and political transformation will help clarify some uncertainties of their meaning and status. One can understand the modern architects and the course of the Czech chamber of architecture as well as the public sector with it's ever changing tendencies ever since 1989 if the broad spectrum of contemporary architecture is kept in perspective.

The primary goal of the thesis is to find out what kind of positions the public takes towards people with mental disorder. Beside this main target the thesis replies either the confirmation or the refutation of the given hypotheses. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the definition and classification of the mental disability, its causes and characteristics of each person with some mental retardation and it involves the attitude and prejudices to the disabled people from the historical point of view. People of different age groups in the town of Strakonice are addressed in the research part of the thesis. Quantitative research is used to reach the above mentioned goals. Survey is the method used to collect data. Univariate and bivariate analysis was chosen to process the surveys and the gained data are processed in the program IBM SPSS statistics. The results are collected from the questionaire which contains 17 questions, answered by 207 respondents. The first four questions are concerned with the sociodemographic data as sex, age, education and occupation. In the next part of the questionaire there are given some questions, which all the hypotheses are processed from. The result of the thesis is the finding of the public positive attitude towards the mentally disabled people irrespective of their age and sex. The public often meets these people in their daily life and they do not mind the direct contact. The research confirmed the influence of education towards the attitude to the disabled people.
