Knowledge of the younger schoolchildren about life emergency staets
Procházková, Jana ; Eislerová, Iva (advisor) ; Burišková, Klára (referee)
The bachelor's thesis concerns the research of the knowledge of the younger school children about life-saving situations. A group of fourteen children visiting the second school class in the Prague West district was used as a sample. The goal of my thesis was to gain a picture about the knowledge of the eight years old children about urgent first aid as well as to give the children a quide how to act in the unfamiliar crisis situations. The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part is divided into separate chapters. The beginning is devoted to an introduction into the topic of the urgent first aid, to present the components and function of the integrated rescue system and there are as well some statistics mentioned here. The second chapter deals with general procedures recomended when providing first aid. In the last chapter I describe particular selcted life-threatening situations and methods of first aid provision. In the empirical part the methodology and organization of the research is decribed. I have used a qualitative focus group method in connection with practical training of some urgent first aid techniques. Also the percentage and graphical evaluation of the research outcomes and goals is enclosed here. This part of the thesis is wrapped up by a discussion. Key words: life...

Seizures in the prehospital emergency care
JAŠKOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor's thesis on the subject: "Seizures in the prehospital emergency care" is divided into two parts. A theoretical part, and a research part. The theoretical part is initially devoted to the general description of the spasmodic states and their development. Consequently, the spasmodic states are divided according to the characteristics of the spasm, the extent of the seizure and the cause of the spasm. An overview of selected conditions that cause spasmodic activity is featured in the subchapters. The core of the work is dedicated to epilepsy, epileptic status, febrile convulsions and eclampsia. For the research part, objective 1 was: to map the level of the theoretical knowledge of paramedics in connection with the provision of pre-hospital emergency care in case of spasmodic states. Two research questions were identified on the basis of this objective. The research question number 1 is: How do paramedics, from differential diagnosis point of view, care for a patient, who is in spasmodic state? The research question number 2 is: How do paramedics proceed, from therapy point of view, in treatment of a patient, who suffers from spasmodic state? A qualitative research method, in the form of semi-structured interviews, was used to question 6 paramedics who work at the Medical Emergency Service in Tábor and České Budějovice. The participants responded 12 questions and with their consent, were recorded on a Dictaphone. The data obtained was divided into 10 categories. The research has revealed a lack of knowledge of paramedics regarding the problem of spasmodic states in pre-hospital emergency care. As the adequate knowledge and skills of paramedics are necessary, I consider their periodic testing useful.
