Causes of the current crisis of the Parti socialiste
Pavlíková, Klára ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on causes of the contemporary crisis within the French Parti socialiste. The PS, as the hegemonic party of the French left until the last presidential and legislative elections in 2017, formed one of the foundational pillars of today's French Fifth Republic. After these elections, however, the party found itself in an unprecedented crisis. The debacle was also felt by other traditional parties of the French right-left continuum. It is clear that such a great crisis could not be solely caused by the unsuccessful presidential candidate Benoît Hamon. The research question of this qualitative study is therefore: How deeply rooted in the history of the Socialist Party are the causes of this contemporary crisis? Are the causes of the contemporary crisis of a long-term nature, which can be seen already in the 20th century? Or is the current state of the party conditioned by causes that arose only in the 21st century? The thesis captures and then analyzes the external and internal factors (both, in the 20th and 21st centuries) that could possibly cause this contemporary situation.
Comparison between the Great Depression and the Recent Crisis through Economy of the USA and through Economies of Chosen European Countries
Darmová, Kateřina ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (referee)
This period was marked by severe financial and political economic crisis which is, for its results, considered as one of the most unpleasant in our history. Regarding its devastating consequences, it is very often compared to Great Depression, which afflicted people in 1930. Even if there is one decade dynamic development between these two crises, it is possible to observe several similar parallels. The main target of my work is to answer the question, whether these parallels are really similar, through the use of analysis of individual crisis and also through their comparison to economics of USA and other selected European countries (UK, France, Germany). The first subject of our interest will be the analysis of pre-crisis period, which is basically the principle of the whole work. Afterwards I will examine the process of individual crisis itself, together with reactions from the government. This overall comparison should give us information, whether there are the same processes that characterised the development in interwar time nowadays, or whether this resemblance is fully accidental.

The process of entering the Economic and Monetary Union is described, as well as the criteria comparison of nominal and real convergence and the hitherto development of fulfilment of conditions for introducing the euro in the Czech Republic. The other part of the diploma work compares, according to some chosen data, the development of Czech and Slovak Economies in 2004-2008, when both countries had their national currencies, and in 2009 when euro was introduced in the Slovak Republic. The aim of the analysis is to show, whether it is more beneficial for the economy to introduce euro in the current economic crisis and the prospects of euro introduction in the Czech Republic.
