The Approach of Child Protection Services to Social Work with Families in the Process of Child Protection
VISTOŘÍN, Radek
This thesis is devoted to the approach of child protection services to social work with families in the process of child protection. The main objective was to determine how effectively child protection services workers use selected social work methods, techniques, approaches and counselling in the process of child protection. Quantitative strategy was used to work on this objective in a form of questioning method. The data collection part was realized by a questionnaire of my own construction. In this total selection method of social protection service offices in the Czech Republic was used (234 child protection service offices). Social workers working as a head of the department were asked first to fill in the questionnaire and to distribute it subsequently to their co-workers (1841 potential respondents). Of this number of reached child protection services workers 235 filled in the questionaire. The data from quantitative research were further elaborated in the SPSS programme version 24 and graphically adjusted in the Microsoft Excel. First of all there were used Shapiro-Wilk Test and Komlmogorov-Smirnov Test accompanied by Lilliefors Test to identify normal data distribution. Afterwards nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis Test a Mann-Whitney U Test were used. The minimal level of significance for all of these test was p<0,05. Value added of this thesis is open question answers analysis. These qualitative data were further elaborated in the Atlas.ti programme version 8. The principal outcomes of this thesis are statistical tests results. Statistical significance level for the relationship between practice length and satisfaction with practising the proffesion was above the minimal level of significance (p<0,05). Therefore this hypothesis was rejected. Second hypothesis was divided into smaller parts according to selected social work methods, techniques, approaches and counselling in the process of child protection. Statistical significance level between education level of the child protection services workers and effectivity of goal oriented social work was below the minimal level of significance (p = 0,034). Therefore this hypothesis was confirmed. Practical effect of this thesis can be seen in finding that there exists a necessity of number of clients per one child protection worker evaluation. Furthermore selected social work methods, techniques, approaches and counselling effectivity analysis can be used as a tool to point out a need for additional training of child protection services workers.

Vondráčková, Alice ; Lejsal, Matěj (advisor) ; Šťastná, Jaroslava (referee)
The theme of my thesis is Assistance in financial management and use of financial counselling services at the asylum houses for mothers with children. The aim of this study is to determine whether it is possible to help mothers at asylum houses with financial management. Financial literacy and the skill to manage their money of these users is very low and it is later on transmitted to their children. Social workers at asylum houses try to help and to encourage their clients in various areas of their lives. Money is not the area every client allows you to intervene in. In my work I consider the views of particular participants on issues of financial management and through using various tools to cooperate with users to improve their financial management skills and at the end of my work I review how the cooperation worked out and succeeded.
Social work in debt issues
KAROCHOVÁ, Michaela
The topic of this thesis is social work in the field of debt issues. Many Czech citizens nowadays have one or more loans that are unable to repay over time and are at risk of confiscation. Prevention and financial literacy are important, as well as social work with people in a debt trap. This thesis deals first with the basic concepts of the topic (debt, definition of the debtor), then debt recovery, social work and social counselling in the area of debt issues, i.e. work with indebted people. In the practical part, we will focus on mapping the views of social workers and other professionals working in the area of indebtedness of the Czech population. A qualitative research was used and was realized by semi-structured interview. Three research questions were set, for which the topics and sub-questions were set for greater clarity. The specific interview was conducted using instructions. The research group consisted of five workers focused on working with people in a debt trap. They were selected from specific institutions in the South Bohemian Region. Research shows that communication partners use an individual approach to their clients and offer specific assistance accordingly. First, they must concretize their problem with them and find out detailed information and all necessary documents. Then they can set goals with clients and start to fulfill them gradually during ongoing consultations. The number of consultations with clients is compiled by the staff according to the need and according to the specific objective. Someone has only one consultation, someone needs 30. Motivation plays a big part of the whole process with the client. Most clients are motivated through their family, friends and loved ones. That's what the workers are trying to do. It is then only the client's desire to improve his/her future. Several factors influence the client's overall situation and its solution to the future. As already mentioned above, the family has both a positive and negative impact on the client. Psychological and financial help from families can be a positive influence. The debtor can be negatively influenced by the fact that he/she grew up in debt all his/her life and he/she finds it normal to indebt at the age of majority. Such indebtedness is also related to society, where the client can be influenced by the surroundings, with which he/she will try to compare and want to "cope" with others. It will cost more money than receive and thus trigger a debt trap. This, of course, can have an impact on employment and future life. The main problem affecting the debtor is probably a lack of awareness in schools where children would need to be preventively taught about debt traps and the consequence of non-payment of obligations in adulthood. Certainly, parents can also prevent this situation, for example, from school years they will give children pocket money and thus teach them how to handle and save money. The bachelor thesis can benefit social workers from organizations working with indebted people. It may also be suitable for schools and the public. To raise awareness that debt is an increasing problem for society.

Šerých, Anna ; Stretti, Sylvie (advisor) ; Cimrmannová, Tereza (referee)
The topic of this work - social work in palliative care - is very up-to-date because in the last three years, thanks to the "Together until the end" program of the Avast Foundation Fund, specialized palliative care has been introduced in eighteen Czech hospitals, which is a response to the fact that 78% of the citizens of the Czech Republic die in healthcare facilities. The goal of the thesis was to answer the research question: "How do social workers at the Central Military Hospital in Prague who have experience with clients in the terminal stage of illness describe the means to achieve the goals of social work in palliative care in the hospital?" To find out the answer to this question, we have used the Grounded theory research method and realized a research in the CMH in Prague. The main findings of the research consist in describing the objectives of social work in palliative care in the hospital as understood by the respondents, and in the description of the means used to achieve these goals and the links between them. These objectives are: the client's wishes and the quality of life with dignified dying and among the means is the relationship between the social worker, the client and the family; social counselling and family care. Other findings include a description of the needs of those...

The social counseling during a divorce in the family
UHLÍKOVÁ, Jana
My choice of dissertation subject was influenced by the fact that there is a increasing number of divorces in recent years. This fact is supported by data from the Czech Statistical Office, which imply that every second marriage ends in divorce. It is impossible to define a clear-cut cause of the trend, because the decision to get divorced is influenced by many factors. These include the increasing pace of social changes, different approaches to problem-solving and to life in general, a specific argument between the partners that leads to a deep and lasting disharmony between them and many others. A divorce is a painful matter for all those involved. It influences broad areas of everyday life and has consequences for the adults as well as for the children (in the case of a divorce where children were born during the marriage). When the family situation is so unsettled that a compromise is difficult to find, it is possible to use an institution or a facility, which can offer social counselling according to law no. 108/2006 of the Collection of Laws on social services, in full wording. We differentiate between basic and professional social counselling. In the case of divorce, professional counselling is appropriate and can be accessed for example via counselling units for families, marriages and interpersonal relations which have this service properly registered within their remit. The extent of the use of these services was the research subject of this dissertation. The aim of this dissertation was to ascertain if families going through a divorce are accessing social counselling to resolve their situation and with what effect. To accomplish the stated aim, three investigative questions were chosen. 1.From what sources are the families informed about the possibility to take advantage of social counselling? 2.How does taking advantage of social counselling help families undergoing a divorce to resolve the life situation? 3.What do the families gain as a result of taking advantage of social counselling? A qualitative research strategy was chosen to collect the necessary information, using a survey method. Two techniques were used firstly the questionnaire containing closed questions and secondly the technique of in-depth interviews of selected respondents. The research was split into two phases. During the first phase a questionnaire with closed questions was used to establish which of the families took advantage of social counselling during divorce. During this phase the basic research set S1 was formed by the subset of respondents that went through divorce. This totalled 47 respondents chosen by the "snowball sampling" method. Using this method the chosen subject recommends further respondents that fulfil the conditions of the research. All 47 respondents agreed to fill in the questionnaire. The second phase of the research involved interviews with respondents forming the selective subset S2. This subset was created using quota selection from respondents who answered YES to the first question of the questionnaire. This select set was formed by 5 respondents. The interviews were transcribed into a recording form and the gathered data was further classified based on predefined questions or areas of the research enquiry, followed by analysis and comparison with the answers of other respondents. The purpose of this dissertation was to show, based on research carried out, if and to what extent the service of social counselling is used, which opportunities it offers and how it benefits the people taking advantage of these services. It was clear from the results, that the utilisation of these services is limited by the fact that a significant number of divorcing families, for whatever reason, does not look for this help. Conversely, the respondents that used social counselling benefited from this service whilst solving problems associated with their divorce, often simplifying the process.
