Feelings of Users Low-Threshold Facilities for Children and Youth in the Phase First Contact.
HOUDKOVÁ, Soňa
When initiating the first contact, the biggest factor on the applicant is the impression of the one who is under review, so is the side of the applicant as the reviewer. When in the pursuit of trying to understand them, these factors fall into a process of making the first impression, on the other side we also invent intuitive theory, which could influence the way that applicants get their information. These theories also influence the behaviour from which you can influence the quality of relation between the employee and the applicant. The first contact is about social knowing and perceiving, which means processing the gained information. That?s why each service should have clear given schedule in how to process the initial contact regarding obtaining information, so we don?t overwhelm the applicant straight away. In my bachelor?s degree essay I try to question the process of the initiative contact applicants make. In the beginning of the practical part it is necessary to describe assigned aim of the work and mentioned researched question. The aim is to find out, how the process of the initial contact influences the applicants. I choose better strategy in my research to find out the given assigned question and to accomplish the point and technique of half structured dialogues completed in nonparticipation observations. The main aim group was represented by children in the initiative contact, regardless on the number of visits. To be specific, there were nine children. The age group from twelve to thirteen years of age was based on long term observation from the initial study. The study was made throughout February ? march 2013. We can deduct from the results of the study that the applicants interested in this service experience the initial contact in very different ways. The next visits in the scope of the initial contact is experienced by all applicants with calm and positive emotions a that?s mainly thanks to the approach and used methods of the social workers. The basic method, which is used by the workers, is mainly a human contact. All questioned agreed that natural, friendly and helpful attitude of the workers works well. This attitude is mainly connected with informal friendliness of the workers and by joining together in free time activities. The research simultaneously shows that high influence on using the initial contact and entry to the facility. Firstly the outer one isn?t very pleasant for the clients, to which I dedicate thewhole observation chapter in the theory part. The reasons given for the aimed group who enters for the first time, is caused mainly by it being dingyand dark. On the contrary, they like atmosphere of the clubs, which are well lit and decorated. In the end to summarize the accomplishments I would like to mention the fact (on which most informants agreed on) that the ideal case would be, if they could come to a new environment and facility accompanied by their nearby, e.g. a friend or colleague. I assume from all the obtained information, that each low-threshold facility for children and youth should have set schedule and plan for the initial contact to improve the quality of the social facilities. This schedule should show what the applicants will be told in the upcoming meeting. This method should be used, not only by the workers but also by the interns and volunteers. It would also be suitable to remove all the barriers, which are causing negative feelings and emotions when entering the facility. It would be assumed that this essay could serve as a resource for information not only for public use but also for specialist in social services field who work with children and youth. As the first initial contact is made in each social service and it is necessary to acclimatize theapproach of the social workers, so all the applicants would feel welcome and wanted in the given facility.
