The sibling relationship as a protective factor

The bachelor thesis is in the literature review focused on the characteristic features in sibling's relationships and their changes during lifetime. Specifics of the interaction between siblings during different developmental period, particularly in childhood and subsequently in old age, are described more closely. Emphasis is placed on how this relationship is influenced by events such as quarrels and divorce of parents, foster care, the arrival of a step-siblings and developmental disability of a sibling, and whether in these cases the sibling relationship can serve as a protective factor stimulating healthy development of personality and contributing to life satisfaction. The proposal of the empirical research describes a quantitative research where these questions are specified for the old age of the individual when assessing their life from a lifespan perspective. The aim is to compare seniors' sibling dyads, considering the stressful circumstances they have experienced in their lives. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
