Monitoring invazních a nepůvodních rostlin v povodí řeky Ostravice
Zlá, Kristýna
Spreading of invasive plants on catchment area of the Ostravice river has been monitored from fall 2013 to fall 2014. During the study period, 24 phytocenological images for 6 areas was obtained. The results were extended with data from the Czech National Phytosociological Database and comparative study of the spreading was performed for separate parts of the catchment area. In 211 phytosociological images analyzed in total, I have found 63 non-native species from which 23 was invasive. The most common invasive species was the Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera), Small balsam (Impatiens parviflora), the knotweed (Reynoutria spp.) and the Solidago canadensis (Solidago canadensis). Number of invasive species increased with decreasing altitude. River flow control and urbanization of nearby areas also had positive effects on the spreading. The study also revealed that occurrence of individual invasive species in coastal areas was different than their occurrence in more distant areas from the river basin.
Political and educational role of public libraries in the 50 and 60 years in Ostrava region
Nováková, Zuzana ; Večeřová, Petra (advisor) ; Římanová, Radka (referee)
Political and educational role of public libraries in the 50 and 60 years in Ostrava region The thesis is focused on cultural politics of the communist regime in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century in relation to public libraries. Based on archival materials the main attention is paid to the situation in the Ostrava region Cultural policy was aimed in two directions. First through repression, when citizens were banned from access to ideas and works that the regime considered as harmful or objectionable. This activity was implemented by censorship of printed materials, sorting of collections and persecution of opponents. Second way to filling the gaps after undesirable denied authors by pro-regime publications, written in the style of socialist realism. Public libraries were using different sorts of methods how to bring readers to this new literature and how to bring them up to be loyal and conscious builders of socialism - e.g. discussions and reader's conferences, literature contests and polls, Fucik's badge, Month of books and so on. The focus is also on libraries promotion of actions and activities supporting the policy of the Party and the government, such as celebrations of party anniversary, recruitment in mining, atheistic education of readers etc.

Rosípalová, Petra ; Sekera, Martin (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis "The Anthology of National Geography and History North Moravia" is handling the issue of publishing this book title which is a significant representative of its kind. Anthologies of National Geography and History have a unique position among other printed documents. And in addition, the anthology North Moravia is, as the only one of its kind, published in the whole Czech Republic almost continuously from 1957 when the museums of Zábřeh, Mohelnice and Loštice started to publish it together. The diploma thesis presents the anthology, introduces its 50 years history, characteristics of this type of a journal. It is going to refer to the specifics which differentiate the anthology from other journals. The thesis includes a quantitative research, in the form of a content analysis which examines the content of the anthology in the course of 50 years. The thesis follows processed topics, regular columns, types of contributions and development of the anthology in the mentioned period. It wants to answer the questions whether such anthology is able to inform - through popular form - readers from among experts as well as among layman public about geographical themes, whether it is its aim to educate as well, what is its reaction to current events and whether it is able to attract nowadays...
Sestavení recentní dubové standardní letokruhové chronologie pro severní Moravu
Bužek, Stanislav
Theme and purpose of this diploma thesis was to compile a recent oak standard chronology for the region of Northern Moravia and to perform a dendroclimatological analysis. At three locations within the region of Northern Moravia, 195 samples from recent oaks have been collected using the Pressler increment borer. Tree-ring widths have been measured and processed in PAST 32 programme. From well-correlated tree-ring curves, a standard chronology has been successfully established with the range from 1895 to 2015. Removal of age-related trend from tree-ring curves and creation of residual standard index oak chronology has been performed in ARSTAN programme. Resulted residual chronology was used for modelling an impact of climatic variables on the radial increment in DendroClim programme, whilst also an analysis of significant negative years has been performed. Radial increment showed statistical and significant positive correlation with rainfalls occurred in last September and in March of this year. Thickness increment indicates statistically negative correlation with Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) from April to August last year. The most significant negative years for radial increment, when more than 60% of all trees responded, were the following years: 1941, 1942, 1943, 1956, and 1998. These most significant negative years were caused by a lower rate of monthly rainfall accumulations and low temperatures during the growing season.
