Sensation seeking tendency and its relationship to well-being
Šuk, Oleg ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
In the first part, diploma thesis presents theoretical background of well-being and sensation seeking tendency concepts. By analysing available resources in Czech and foreign literature it presents current theoretical understanding of these concepts and discusses their relationship to other psyche phenomena. In the empirical part, research hypotheses about existence of the relationship between well-being represented by SWLS questionnaire (Satisfaction With Life Scale; Diener et al., 1985) and sensation seeking tendency represented by SSS V scale (Sensation Seeking Scale V; Zuckerman, 1979) are examined. As support, Ten-item personality inventory TIPI (Gosling et al., 2003) is used. Two groups of respondents participated in the study: Czech (N = 137) and Slovak (N = 181) which were considered one sample (N = 318). Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis showed negligible significant relationship (r = 0,12; p < 0,05) between sub-scale Experience Seeking (ES) and SWLS. However, EC score did not predict SWLS variance. Overall, study failed to accept hypothesis of existence of the relationship between SWLS and SSS V and hypothesis of mutual independence was accepted. Furthermore, the thesis deals with closer analysis of the results and personality predictors of SWLS. Keywords:...
Physical Self Perception and Sensation seeking tendency in gym gores
Schlegel, Petr ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Stackeová, Daniela (referee) ; Bláha, Ladislav (referee)
Annotation: The work deals with the relationship between physical self-concept and experience of the search terms sensation seeking. It contains theoretical research of these areas, their position in the discourse of fitness and also presents a starting points for comparison. The research was conducted on a group of gym-goers and analyzed the relationship of concepts Physical Self Perception Profile and Sensation Seeking Scale version V including individual subscales. Comparison showed a weak relationship between SST and PSPP and even between individual subscales. Keywords: Body image, Sensation Seeking Tendency, Physical Self Perception Profile, gym

Motivation of sensation seeking in sport round young people at the age of 16-25 (round motorbikes and motocross)\\
ŠENEKL, Jan
This thesis deals with the question of what motivates young people, aged between 21-25 years, to become motorbike riders. The sample included n = 16 hobby bikers. Two types of questionnaires were used: Zuckerman?s standardized questionnaire for collecting data, version SSS V - Test of interests and hobbies and not standardized Rheinberg?s and Vollmeyer?s Short questionnaire flow. The results of SSS V version were compared with the standardized norm for the Czech population. The bikers turned out to be above average in the following subscales: TAS (thrill and adventure seeking), ES (experience seeking), and Dis (disinhibition). These results thus indicate the main bikers? motives. The scores of the Short questionnaire flow were compared with the German norm, due to the missing standardized record for the Czech Republic. It was found out that the state of ?flow? is used more often by more experienced riders.
Motivation of sensation seeking in sport round young people at the age of 16-25 (freestyle snowboarding)\\
BUNDOVÁ, Petra
This work deals with the question of what brings young people to extreme sports, despite the fact that they are exposed to a certain amount of danger. The theoretical part explains terms such as motivation, sensation seeking and the state of flow. Tha practical part contains research that uses the method of a questionnaire. One standard and one non-standard questionnaires were used. The research used n=31 (17 woman, 14 man) local adolescents who showed different levels of devotion to freestyle snowboarding. The foremost focus of the research was to determine the amount of risk-seeking among adolescents. The second part of the research is designed to find out whether the respondents reach the state of flow during the given activity. The results show that the respondents reached above-average SSS values, the highest results respondents reached in Dis and BS, average results in ES and below-average in TAS. Respondents reached slightly below-average levels of flow in comparison with the German norm.
