Teaching mathematics online at the first year of grammar school
Flejberková, Dorota ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with equations introducing at 8-year gymnasium in the framework of teaching online. This thesis is focused on an action survey in a context of teaching online in prima of 8-year gymnasium. This is a series of lessons focused on equations which were taught at Gymnázium OPEN GATE. The aim of the thesis is to follow the shift in a didactic area in a non-standard form of teaching. The diploma thesis is based on the theoretical background, the practical part is focused on a teaching experiment. For reaching the aim, the following tasks were established: -To discuss possible forms of teaching online. -To summarise the theory of linear equations. -To analyse textbooks for both primary school and lower-secondary school first from the viewpoint of a preparatory stage of equations and then the propaedeutics of equations in the framework of lower-secondary school. - To record the surveyed events connected by reflection. The thesis is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The practical part follows the theoretical one; it is based on analyses a priori of continued reflection. The description of scripts implementation is accompanied by a continued reflection and a posterior reflection. The conclusion provides the key...
Teaching mathematics online at in a selected year of the second stage
Flejberková, Dorota ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the introduction of equations in an eight-year Grammar school during distance learning. This thesis focuses on action research in the context of distance learning in the first year of the eight-year Grammar school. It consists of a series of lessons focusing on equations that I have taught at OPENGATE Grammar School. This thesis aims to monitor my progress in the field of didactics. The thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part itself is further divided into five chapters: Definition of key terms, Closing and re-opening of schools in the Czech Republic with a comparison with other countries of the European Union, Specifics of online teaching, theory of linear equations, analysis of textbooks. The practical part builds a priori on analyses of a continuous reflection. The practical part expands on the theoretical by the creation of scenarios. The description of scenarios is accompanied by a continual reflection and a posteriori reflection. The conclusion presents the key points of the reflection. The analysis and the reflection are put into the context of the linear equation curriculum analysis presented in a selected series of textbooks both at the primary and lower secondary school levels. The practical part was realized...
Problems dealing with volume and surface in the three-dimensional space
Dlouhá, Michaela ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Dvořák, Petr (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's work is to sort out and comprehensively organize the word problems on volume and surface elements that appear in textbooks and tasks collections for elementary and secondary schools, namely for the needs of pupils and teachers. The introductory part deals with the characteristic of geometric solids. There are the basic concepts related to objects defined and explained. In the following part there is the notion of the word problems defined. The last part deals with the sorting and organizing word problems for volume and surface area. There are a number of specific tasks selected from the textbooks and tasks collections for primary and secondary schools assigned to each type of task. Tasks are presented with their solution. Keywords: volume, surface, geometrical element
Teaching mathematics online in a selected year of the lower level of an eight-year grammar school
Flejberková, Dorota ; Kaslová, Michaela (advisor) ; Novotná, Jarmila (referee)
This Diploma thesis is based on the teaching practice done online. It looks at the possibilities of online teaching of Mathematics and its concepts, and at how to teach Mathematics online well. The aim of the thesis is to compare distance learning in the Czech Republic and chosen countries in the European Union. The current situation changed in the European schooling and teaching was done remotely since Spring 2020. This thesis takes this situation and looks at three main areas: literature search, where theoretical background is described, summarized data for distance learning in the World, which I got from the internet, and lastly a part where I observed teaching in the given context, both as an observing student and as a teacher. The teaching practice was done in the first year of the lower secondary school, during a focus on the topic of solving equations. The analysis and the reflection of the class are put into the context with the analysis of the topic of solving equations as presented in chosen textbooks both at primary and lower secondary school level. The thesis also includes a summary of all the reports published during the pandemic by CSI that examined the impact of the pandemic on the teachers, the students, and the parents. The final part of the thesis presents a summary of gained...
Pupils' problem solving strategies at lower and upper secondary level
Hoffmann, Jan ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Tůmová, Veronika (referee)
THESIS Pupils' problem solving strategies at lower and upper secondary level ABSTRACT Thesis Pupils' problem solving strategies at lower and upper secondary level deals with pupils' strategies of solving mathematical problems that we can observe at primary and secondary school. The theoretical part summarizes basic concepts in the field of mathematical problems and pupils' strategies. The main aim of the experimental part of the thesis is finding new knowledge from this field at the second level of Czech education. I focused primarily on tasks involving data, addiction and statistics, including the concept of a mathematical function that is deeply linked to these educational contents. In the experimental part, there are selected tasks, expected or discovered strategies, statistics of chosen strategies and the success of the solutions and strategies found, in some cases even the transcription of pupils' errors. Keywords Problem, word problem, assignment, strategy, error, analysis, success rate, solving problems.
Use of applications of algebra in sciences at secondary schools
Novotný, Tomáš ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
The MA thesis focuses on the strategies pupils use when solving mathematical problems involving systems of linear equations in other subjects, namely in physics and chemistry. Drawing on the results of the experiment, the aim of the thesis is to propose ways in which these problems can be used in math lessons. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to those branches of physics and chemistry in which systems of linear equations are used. In the following part, the experiment itself is described. Divided into two parts, the first part of the experiment focuses on pupils at lower secondary schools, the other on pupils at upper secondary schools. The final part of the thesis is dedicated to suggesting how problems from physics and chemistry can be used in math lessons when introducing and practising systems of linear equations.
