Salesian pedagogy from the point of view of employees of the Salesian youth centers.

The bachelor thesis entitled "Salesian pedagogy from the perspective of employees in Salesian youth centers" deals with the basic features of Salesian pedagogy from the perspective of employees of the Salesian Youth Center in České Budějovice. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the characteristics of the basic features of Salesian work with children and youth. The origin and history of the Salesians are explained. It also clarifies Don Bosco's preventive system and its essential pillars, which are described in detail. Last but not least, it tells the methodology of Salesian education and the work of Salesian centers. The second part of the thesis deals with the description of the research investigation, which was carried out using qualitative research conducted through semi- structured interviews. This part presents the results of the study, the aim of which was to find out how the employees of the Salesian Youth Center in České Budějovice understand selected basic features of Salesian pedagogy. This research can be used to understand Salesian work with children and youth better.

The aim of the master's thesis is to clarify the concept of open clubs. Basic terms connected to an open club are defined in the first part of the thesis. Spontaneous activities and low-threshold approaches are the most important there. The principle of low-threshold approaches are typical also for other institutions, that are registered in law. It concerns low-threshold centres for children and youth. The origin, development, aiming and activities of these centres are described. The thesis explains open activities for young people offered by different leisure time centres. Also open clubs and Salesian centres offer these activities. The last chapter of this part shows basic differences between an open club and a low-threshold centre for children and youth. The second part of the thesis deals with a detailed analysis of the School Education Programme of a chosen centre carrying on an open club. The aim of the research is to find information about the open club in the document and evaluate the extent and the quality of the discovered details.
The Authority of Contact Worker in Low Treshold Institution for Children and Youth

The thesis explores authority of a contact worker in low-threshold facilities for children and youth. The first part deals with the definition of authority in general and its insertion in today's context. So called relativism of authority is described in the thesis and its impact on contemporary youth. Rejection of formal authorities led to the need to work with authority differently. Formation of low-threshold facilities for children and youth reflected this need. The second part deals with two basic concepts which are applied in low-threshold facilities. These are Salesian pedagogy and the concept of identity work. By comparing these two concepts we get the form of authority a contact worker should have. The goal of this thesis is to bring impetus to the debate on forms of authority in new centres, such as low-threshold facilities for children and youth.
Social pedagogical work at Salesian Youth Centres

Annotation: The presented work deals with the contemporary Salesian education on the background of pedagogical principles of the preventive system of Don Bosco, which was formulated as a response to concrete historical conditions of life and needs of young boys in Turine in the second half of the 19th century and was based on a personal experience of a young priest and tutor John Bosco. The goal of the work is to ascertain through an analysis of the contemporary Salesisan education and concrete activities of Czech Salesian Youth Centres, whether and in what extant the Salesian activities can be considered as a social pedagogical work. The work is divided into five parts. Part One is focused on the historical context of the origin of the Salesian movement, whereas Part Two on the preventive system, as was applied by Don Bosco in his work. Part three is dedicated to the contemporary Salesian education and Part Four describes the functions, methods and forms of work in Czech Salesian Youth Centres. In Part Five I examine through the analysis of the contemporary Salesian education and activities of selected Czech Salesian Youth Centres, whether and in which extant the Salesian activities reflect and fulfil social pedagogical aspects of youth work. Social-pedagogy Approaches in the Issue-based Youth Work Centres Dealing with the Unattached Youth

The presented work deals with social-pedagogy approaches in the issue-based youth work centres. The first part attends to the analysis of the idea {\clqq}unattached youth``. It takes aspect of the lifestyle sociology, the social education and the developmental psychology. The viewed group of the unattached youth is presented as a group of the adolescents; they have problems with the coping strategies in the post-modern society. The second part of the work takes their problems as a starting-point for the next reflec-tion. It determines criteria of the effective youth work dealing with the unattached youth. Finally the third applied part evaluates the four current types of the issue-based youth work: the German open youth work (Offene Kinder- und Jugendarbeit), the British youth work, the Czech issue-based youth work centres and the Czech open youth centres. The evaluation is focused on the criteria of the effective youth work dealing with the unat-tached youth; we derived in the second part. Overall the main aim of this work is to point out the effective issue-based youth work has to take into account the social and developmental needs of the target group.
