Rehabilitation after combinated tendon and nerve injury of the hand
ŽÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis aims to clarify the adequate rehabilitation procedures after lesions of the tendon and nerve apparatus of the hand, which were applied to the patient with a hand injury. The benefit of the selected rehabilitation methods was subsequently commented on in the discussion. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy and physiology of the hand, concretely with the flexor and nervous apparatus, which is essential for establishing the rehabilitation processes and improving collaboration between attending physicians. For a better orientation and understanding of the postoperative care, the thesis describes the procedures related to the surgical treatment of flexor tendons and nerves injury. It further introduces the most common rehabilitation procedures, soft tissue, antiedema and physical therapy, desensitization exercises, and adhesion prevention. Lastly, I comment on the protective splinting for the hand after tendon lesions and selection of splinting materials. In my bachelor thesis I applied qualitative research method. A patient from the Institute of Hand Surgery and Plastic Surgery in Vysoké nad Jizerou with a tendon and nerve lesion after trauma participated in the research. After the operation, a rehabilitation plan was created, applied and observed. The patient's condition was monitored from the day of the surgery for six months. Each checkup I cooperated with the surgeon.
Clinical Anatomy of the Arteries of the Trumb and the First Web Space
Miletín, Jakub ; Kachlík, David (advisor) ; Stingl, Josef (referee) ; Měšťák, Ondřej (referee)
The thumb is absolutely essential for the flawless function of the hand, and the loss of the structure or function of the thumb almost always means a partial or total invalidation of the patient. Thus, salvage and reconstruction of the thumb is one of the foremost topics in hand surgery. Modern conservation and reconstructive procedures of hand surgery require a completely new insight into the knowledge of vascular anatomy. In order for the information to be comprehensible and well communicated, it is necessary to have a sufficiently detailed, clear and, above all, uniform nomenclature. When taking a closer look at the anatomy of the vessels of the hand, it turns out that authors often do not use generally accepted terms or do not agree on the interpretation of the correctly used ones. The above stated facts led us to the conclusion that, although the anatomy of the hand arteries seems to have been well studied and described in the past, there is still considerable room for sorting out the previously described data, revising the nomenclature, completing the missing detailed description of some anatomical variations and assessing the significance and usefulness of individual structures in relation to trauma and reconstructive hand surgery. This work describes in detail the systemic and topographical...
Možnosti fyzioterapie po frakturách předloktí a ruky
KORBELÁŘOVÁ, Aneta
This bachelor thesis is focused on methods and possibilities that physiotherapy offers to patients after fractures of forearms and hands. It contains informations about the anatomy, characteristics of fractures and subsequent physiotherapy options. The research group consists of three adult patients after a fracture of the forearm and hand. A case report (i.e. research method dealing with description and comparison of similar cases of diseases or injuries) is listed for each of them based on anamnesis and kinesiological analysis. Based on aspect, palpation, and kinesiological analysis, selected probands underwent two months of therapy and a suitable exercise unit was created, which patients regularly exercised at home. After the end of the therapy, an output of kinesiological analysis was written, which, according to obtained values in comparison with the initial kinesiological analysis, confirms a significant improvement in range of motion, mobility and increase in muscle strength of upper limb after the fracture. In patients who initially showed typical elements of poor posture due to the immobility of the injured limb, an improvement in overall posture correction was noticeable after therapy. The aim of this work is primarily to draw attention to the importance of therapeutic rehabilitation after fractures of the forearm and hand. Next, describe the issue of fractures of the forearm and hand and the subsequent possibilities of physiotherapy after removal of fixation. The work can be used as an educational and information material for patients after fractures of the forearm and hand, or for physiotherapists. Another benefit of the work is an educational brochure according to patients after fractures of the forearm and hand can exercise at home as part of autotherapy.

THESIS ABSTRACT Name, surname: Bc. Pavlína Kořánová Supervisor: MUDr. Ivan Humhej, PhD. Labor consultant: Bc. Olga Nováková, M. Sc. Thesis title: Occupational therapy treatment strategies in patients with upper limb peripheral nerve injury Thesis abstract: Peripheral nerve injuries of upper limb are often identified by sensory and motor control deficit. Limitations are most likely evident in their performance of activities of daily living (ADL), leisure and work activities. Significant neurogenic pain is a typically included and can cause poor quality of life. The result of injury is not only affecting the physical area, but also psychological and socio- economic aspects. Treatment is often time-consuming and there is an uncertain prognosis. The overview of the issue summarizes basic information, identification of specific peripheral nerve of upper limb (radial, median, ulnar) and their functional deficits. It also presents actual options of treatment, specially with an emphasis on occupational therapy. The purpose of this final thesis is to extend the knowledge and treatment options of evidence-based occupational therapy. The outputs represent an overview of occupational therapy treatment strategies in patients with upper limb peripheral nerve injury. Among the common effective occupational therapy's...
