Manipulation in photography: Techniques of manipulation and their identification

Diploma thesis deals with the manipulation of the photography, especially journalism. To bring the reader into context work starts with the first creation and the history of photography, early examples of manipulation of analog photography and its techniques. The main part focuses on the specifics and characteristics of the digital era in relation to the photographs, handling technology in digital photography and the possibilities of detection. Thesis reflects manipulation of photographs on social networks and the prestigious photographic competitions and the question of objectivity. Considering how it is in the background handling adjustments with confidence in the photo and that picture can be adjusted to detect and effectively to defend against them. Due to the nature of the digital society and a number of factors that the creation and publishing of photographs accompanying the photo we have to think critically and understand its truth value as intersubjective.
Manipulation in photography: techniques for manipulation and their identification

This thesis deals with the manipulation of a photograph. The first part is the theoretical framework, which is used in subsequent chapters by analyzing selected examples primarily reflecting concepts such as authenticity, objectivity, truth value or manipulation. Outside the theoretical framework is mentioned in the introductory parts of the historical evolution of analogue photography which flows into the history of digital photography. In the analytical part of the study we work with selected manipulative techniques (arrangements, retouching, photomontage, digital cloning, exchange heads, manipulation accompanying text or photos without referents) which are applied to individual examples using the theoretical framework from the first part. The study answers to our research questions, namely is it still possible to understand photography as an objective and trustworthy visual medium and is it possible to defend against the visual manipulation? The analysis shows that in the context of industrial practices in the photo and their availability has truth value of photographs as its objective quality not by its nature possible, while research and methods in detecting manipulation are crucial, but the amount of video material is still essential defense against manipulation of critical thinking. Digital photography post-production and its purpose in commercial sphere

Objective of this thesis is to define Photography Postproduction and present specific techniques of editing commercial photographs. Theoretical part is focused on the clarification of expression Photography Postproduction itself, it's understanding in the past and mainly actual application in distinct areas of commercial field. Practical part of this document elaborates on an implementation of digital composite. In separate steps are described different processes and reasons of their application. In addition, practical abstracts are included in form of photographs and videos, amending to the explanation of the techniques used. This assignment assume that a reader has basic understanding of a employed softwares, specifically Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
Post-processing and retouching of digital photography

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyze todays possibilites of retouching the digital photographs. The thesis begins by briefly outlining the principle of capturing digital photography and image. After this part, there is a description of some of the applications allowing users to perform interference with their photographs. The RAW format is presented, including its advantages for repairing the most known errors in digital photography. The next part of the thesis is concerned with more detailed look at one of the specialized graphic editors -- Adobe Photoshop CS5, including the interpretation of its tools for the tone adjustments, selection creations, masks and retouching which are displayed in the practical examples in the next part.
Selected techniques for editation and retouching of portrait and figural photography

The subject of this thesis is processing digital photography for the purposes of marketing. Specifically, it delimits, defines and describes selected techniques of treating portrait and figural photography. The thesis begins by briefly outlining the history of photography treatment. It describes the situation from the beginning of photography itself up to digital image reconstruction, showing the developments and changes in the philosophy of photography treatment. Three techniques of photography treatment are described: retouching, stylistic adjustment and image reconstruction. A simple manual containing examples of professional work is created for each technique. The manuals are based on commonly used processes and techniques of photography treatment and show frequent mistakes and some possible ways to avoid them. All photography treatment is done in Adobe Photoshop CS4.
