Retirement in the Czech Republic: the role of expectations and health status in international comparison
Pertold, Filip ; Federičová, Miroslava
The Czech population is ageing, which will have long-term impacts on the economy and society. One of the principal problems is the risk of a future decline of the overall workforce. On the basis of the SHARE data we show, among other things, that most older workers retire as soon as they are eligible for an old age pension, whether that is early retirement or standard retirement age. Only a very small percentage of workers take their retirement later than at the moment of pension eligibility.

Čadová, Naděžda
In its December survey the Center for Public Opinion Research focused on some issues related to the pension system and pension reform. Within this thematic block respondents were presented three pairs of opposing statements expressing general attitudes to the different characteristics of the pension system. Respondents expressed their position through a five-point scale, where point 1 meant identification with the first of a pair of opposing statements and point 5, on the contrary, featured complete shift to the second statement. Individual claims were related to contradiction between principle of solidarity and merit in the pension system, whether financial security of retired people should be ensured by state or by the citizens themselves and whether the pension system in its current form is just or unjust.

Senior's perception of bullying in retirement house
JINDROVÁ, Nikola
The bachelor thesis deals with the perception of the problem of bullying in retirement homes. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out what specific attitudes or behaviors are considered by seniors in selected social facilities as bullying. The text of the thesis is divided into two consecutive parts i.e. the theoretical one and practical one. In the theoretical part the basic terms were defined. The theoretical part attempts to link individual chapters and leads the readers to a piece of knowledge that bullying is a serious issue that doesn´t avoid even seniors in social service facilities. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is focused on answering the main and partial research questions. Qualitative research strategy has been chosen for it. It was implemented by the questioning using the semi-standardized interview technique. The collected data have been analysed using open encoding. The research file has been consisted of 5 communication partners in selected social services facilities. On the basis of obtained information, it was found that communication partners have met bullying during their lifetime. Comparing two social services facilities led to a finding that there were differences in perception of bullying. It was surprising that communication partners from a picturesque village stated more information and experience with bullying. They also mentioned a few ideas how to solve bullying. The research results show that the knowledge of preventive measures is partial. The results of this bachelor thesis can be used by both social and health workers to provide an overview of the incidence of bullying among seniors. The results of this work can be of benefit to our community. A very important thing is to prevent and resolve how we will act if we discover any such problém. I believe that this bachelor thesis has not only benefited the selected home for seniors, but also for myself. I was able to look into the issue of bullying among seniors and gain valuable experience for my future profession.
Retirement as a Turning Point in the Life of a Man
PELEJOVÁ, Lenka
This Bachelor thesis deals with retirement and changes that follow this turning point in human life. The topic is up to date with regard to demographical ageing process of Czech population in the Czech Republic and abroad. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on questions regarding demographical development and its impact on the society. Other chapters describe particular changes in ageing process, changes in physical, psychological, cognitive and social area. The following chapters involve reflections on factors that influence pensioners' lives health, physical activity, income, sense of life and spirituality. One chapter deals with issues of social exclusion and pensioners' needs. The aim of the thesis is to find out the impacts of retirement on human life and on satisfying pensioners' bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs. A partial aim is to find out if the change of a social status leads to social isolation of pensioners. A qualitative research strategy, a questioning method and a semi-standardized dialogue method are used in this thesis. The communicative partners were pensioners at the age of sixty-five and over, who were chosen at the basis of progressive choice by Snowball sampling method. The obtained data were analyzed by open coding, which enables to separate the text into smaller parts. Mental maps are used to present obtained information. According to the research, fourty-four per cent of pensioners didn't think about ageing and retirement during their active working life. Pensioners over seventy, who were awaitening retirement, were convinced that they will be provided for a pension that they will get from the state. They didn't think about financial resources, such as saving or insurance. All pensioners noticed some changes they experienced in connection with retirement, which was an interesting finding. Two thirds of them devoted to their hobbies and didn't feel any limits eg. lack of opportunities or lack of finance, which would prevent them from devoting to their hobbies. The results have shown that when a person gets older and less fit, their value scale is changing. In their youth these people preferred family interests and finance maintanance. Elderly people put their health and health of their family members in the first place in life. Czech pensioners regard their pension as low, however they are satisfied and they are able to make ends meet, which is also an interesting point. Those who are fit keep going to work and are able to save money. Responses to questions regarding health were also interesting. After feeling tired and having a lot of health problems at the beginning of the retirement, pensioners feel more relaxed and quite well, only with tiny health problems. Some of them were feeling even better. The contribution of this research is the finding that there is no reason to be afraid of such a major change in life as the retirement represents. Pensioners have enough opportunities for self-realization and they needn't be afraid of being socially excluded or isolated, if they don't wish so. Also a generational cohesion between family members was proved. Pensioners can rely on their offsprings in hard times.

In this context, the Thesis also concerns the third age and the active old age. In the Thesis, there are characterized some leisure activities for seniors to fulfil their free time in meaningful ways. Plenty of free time is a typical characteristic of a person who has left the labour market and become a pensioner. The Thesis also describes the phenomenon of death and dying. For some people nowadays, this issue is often a very uncomfortable topic. They would like to eliminate death from the whole human society because death is connected with terrible pain and suffering. In this part of the Thesis, there are introduced two real human stories. Two members of my own family who have their own experience associated with death tell us their stories to express their views on the issues of death and dying.
