Resonant ultrasound spectroscopy of ternary Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloy compacts fabricated via SPS technology
Pavlík, Marek ; Spotz, Zdeněk (referee) ; Čížek, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with applicability of powder metalurgy for production of Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloys. It is part of series of studies, inherently expanding experimental work with samples previously produced through optimized mechanical alloying and compaction via SPS method. In this work, the samples were thermally annealed and characterized by two advanced methods, DTA and RUS. Significant changes occur within the material at temperatures of 240 °C and 300 °C. The measurements indicated a presence of a martensitic transformation that could correspond to the desired SME phenomenon. Apparently, the changes were not triggered throughout the entire sample volume and further experimental progress is therefore expected in the near future.

The paper presents complementary methods for noninvasive evaluation of an exotic class of alloys possible to be used in medical prosthetics. The interest in this study is the analysis of Ti alloys with different concentration of Mo and Si, in order to make the elastic modulus and Poisson ratio reach values appropriate with human bones. The both methods, acoustic emission and resonant ultrasound spectroscopy are proposed as complementary methods for nondestructive evaluation of entire sample volume.

Landa, Michal ; Kozánek, Jan ; Zolotarev, Igor ; Plešek, Jiří
Among the fundamental characteristics of solids are their elastic constants. During the determination of above constants are identified by fitting methods the natural frequencies and compared with FEM results.
Elastické vlastnosti jednotlivých fází slitin s tvarovou pamětí vyšetřovaných pomocí RUS
Landa, Michal ; Novák, Václav ; Sedlák, Petr ; Manosa, L. ; Šittner, Petr
Elastic constants of the austenite phase in CuAlNi shape memory alloys single crystal and their temperature dependence were determination by ultrasonic pulse-echo and resonant ultrasound spectroscopy methods. RUS is novel method in which all components of elastic tensor are detrmined from measured resonance frequencies of freely vibrating speciment.
