The Christian missionary movement in China, 1860-1900

The objective of this Bachelor's thesis is to describe the activities of Christian missionaries in China during the second half of 19. century. Most attention is being drawn to Protestant missions, which are more relevant due to the absence of hierarchy in Protestant churches, unlike in other branches of Christianity. However, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox missions are also briefly mentioned. The main point of the thesis is to describe history of Christian missions in China leading to the situation which arose in the second part of 19. century, causing a variety of different approaches to the problem of evangelization of Chinese people. The thesis describes various ways how the missions were practised and what kind of reactions amongst Chinese people they induced. On the other side, the point of view of Chinese Christians is mentioned, with the side effects that arose due to the presence of foreign missionaries. This leads to the explanation of how the Christian teachings were adjusted to the Chinese culture, and what were the consequences of cultural differences between missionaries and Chinese. Inquisition and Protestantism in New Spain (1536-1820)

Anotation in English The theme of my master's thesis "Inquisition and Protestants in New Spain (1536 - 1820) is the inquisition in New Spain, its functioning as an institution, its development and procedures with the main emphasis put on individual cases of judged Protestants. Firstly I describe the development of the inquisition in Europe with emphasis put on the Spanish inquisition. Afterwards I focus on inquisition as a judicial institution. Here I describe the whole judicial process from denunciation, order to appeal at the court, torture and final verdict. But the main emphasis of the thesis is put on the Protestants judged by the inquisition in New Spain. In these chapters, firstly I divide them by its nationalities. Then I analyse each nationality separately. I state the verdicts and punishments over the judged Protestants. Some cases, where we know some details, I examine with more details including the circumstances of the arrest, progress of the trial or even chat happened with the Protestant after his sentence had expired. The Impact of the Good Friday Agreement on the Protestant Community

The Abstract The work "The Impact of the Good Friday Agreement on the Protestant Community" deals with the Protestant community in Northern Ireland in the period between signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and the St. Andrews agreement in 2007. The object of analysis is the change in perception of the Catholics, the Great Britain, Republic of Ireland and the Protestant community by itself in the relation to the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, respectively its three principles (right to self-determination, power-sharing and parity of self esteems). The work is divided in several chapters. The work contains chapter describing the Good Friday Agreement and the profile of Protestants in 1998 and further chapters for each of the principles and their impact on the Protestant community. Thanks to more or less successful implementation of the Good Friday Agreement and the lost of the hegemonic position there was a significant shift in the identity of the Protestant community. The shift was accentuated by the intertwined religion, etno-national and political identification. Conflict in Northern Ireland: from the causes of the conflict to the peace process

This bachelor thesis focuses on the long-time conflict in Northern Ireland, specifically on the causes of the conflict and the development of the peace process. The aim of the work is to clarify the character of the Northern Ireland conflict, when using the cleavage theory of Stein Rokkan. Factors that affected the emergence of the conflict and meant the failure of the peace process are observed. The first part is historically-based and describes the development of the events in Northern Ireland from the 12th century to the island division (1921) thereby it brings preconditions for the emergence of the conflict closer to readers. On the basis of the Northern Ireland political parties the second part explains which cleavages formed the conflict. The third part gives the results of the peace process and presents reasons of its failure.

Religious and ethical dimension of conflict in Northern Ireland

This thesis presents the problematic of Northern Ireland, long-time conflict between Catholics and Protestants, their practices which are used for achieving their goals and the attitude of church to the whole conflict. The thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, there are described the conflicts of the history view which caused the subsequent escalation of the conflict in ?The Trouble? period. The second chapter focuses on terrorist?s influence and the way of guerilla war of paramilitary groups and their complex description. The third chapter depicts religious dimension of the conflict and the pronouncement of Pope John Paul II to incidents in Northern Ireland. The fourth chapter delimits the moral good and evil in the context of Ten Commandments, as a moral basic element of mankind. This chapter also concentrates on the problematic of the just-doctrine war view.
