At home at the large housing estate? Local identity and place identification in different types of urban environment
Veselý, Martin ; Haluzík, Radovan (advisor) ; Pětová, Marie (referee) ; Vašát, Petr (referee)
Martin Veselý At home at the large housing estate? Local identity and place identification in different types of urban environment The thesis is concerned with the question of local identity and place identification in urban environment on the example of Prague's Southern Town representing a large, centrally planned housing estate, and "old" Vršovice as an example of a traditional city quarter. The author distinguishes two theoretical-methodological approaches to the analysis of urban environment. The first approach is ontological-historical, ethic perspective describing the city with the use of theoretical devices of urbanism and phenomenology of architecture. The second approach - anthropological - is an emic approach studying the interpretation of a place by social agents. The author shows on numerous examples, how do the people identify with a place and what is the role of the physical attributes of the place and its memory in the process of place identification. The relation between ontological-historical and anthropological perspective is according to the author dialogic and he is looking for points of intersection. He shows that the consequence of one-sided way of interpretation is insufficient understanding for place identity. In other words, it is not able to answer convincingly the...
Pohyb a kreativita
Time Lapse of the Jump
Tůma, Daniel ; MAZÚCH, Branislav (advisor) ; TEJNOROVÁ, Petra (referee)
Time lapse of the jump I try to specify the starting point for my author's work through my experience from the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater in my diploma thesis, which led me to interest in the creative work as which I try to formulate on the example of our performance EVEN PEOPLE HAVE SOUL. The whole thesis begins with the chapter called Background, which mentions the benefits of block teaching and its contribution to my further creation. This chapter is subdivided into two subchapters. The first is a reflection on the function and ability of contemporary theater at the time of the digital-technological prosperity, and the second is about the use of these multimedia as a tool whose task is to expand our platform and space for the creation itself as opposed to when the theater tries to come out of the dead end using empty illusion. Continue with an chapter called the Simple Space chapter and its supporting force, paraphrasing Jerzy Grotowski and his interpretation of Poor and Rich Theater and specifying the starting points for the theater space and consequently the creation as such. In the next chapter I am devoted to the anthropological approach serves which me as a mentor and helper on the way to authenticity on the stage. With the other chapters I try to describe what a living process of rehearsing which is complex and linked as one organism means to me and what are the associated contexts in the way of specifying my authorial approach. Then I get to the chapter about the performance EVEN PEOPLE HAVE SOUL itself, where I try to formulate our own way of creating and how we think about it. On a particular scene, I approach the synthesizing approach to theater and other key fragments of form that interests me. I follow with the chapter named Sarajevo, which is the title of one of our clausure works, where I describe the theater, which is able to maintain its authenticity, despite the fact that it deals with a topic like war and events with it that are not easily translatable in to a theater that generalizes is to me and put back these into the context of my views of the theater.
Space as a partner
Josefi, Zdenka ; ELIÁŠOVÁ, Bohumíra (advisor) ; KNYTLOVÁ, Veronika (referee)
The aim of my diploma thesis is to introduce and explore the theme of space from multiple angles and to offer possibilities of its use during a performance preparation/production. The introductury part is dedicated to a definition of terms concerning a space and also brings important informations from a historical point of view, tendencies and overlaps to the present days. Further I tried to clarify a spatial inteligence concept, proxemics and basic rules of composition, which are an integral part of the topic. In the main part of my thesis I introduce a view of my own work with a space based on a description of a preparation of the performance Sofia.
The Images of a City: the Resident's View of the Town of Nymburk
Malá, Michaela ; Sládek, Jan (advisor) ; Illner, Michal (referee)
The diploma thesis The Images of a City: the Resident's View of the Town of Nymburk deals with the issue of why people behave differently. The thesis is inspired by the approach of behavioral geography, which is represented by Kevin Lynch's work. Lynch has proposed the concept of the image of the city, the people's vision about the surroundings of a place where they live. The image of the city consists of its visible features evoking a strong impression and having an effect on people's sensory perception. Moreover, the direct influence of the city represented by architectural-urbanistic determinism and environmental psychology is also taken into account. I have found out during the research that both of theoretical approaches are important for identifying the relation between the town and his residents which relates to the behavior in the town. The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out which images of the town of Nymburk its inhabitants have, which components create their images and what is the composition of these components. The thesis focuses both on universal image of Nymburk and on images of the town with regard to the current lifecycle stage and respondents' sex. The research is made by the qualitative method using the mental maps and the semi-structured interview with sixteen respondents...

Perception of space in virtual reality environments
Fajnerová, Iveta ; Vlček, Kamil (advisor) ; Vavrečka, Michal (referee)
This thesis attempts to analyze spatial perception for navigation in a virtual arena and to cover neuronal basics of distance estimation. For this purpose, we created a virtual version of Hidden goal task which is an analogy to Morris water maze. The thesis presents results of the experiment with removing orientation cues in a circular arena. The aim of the experiment was to determine, if the assumption of Cognitive mapping theory about orientation cues equivalence is valid for our arena. Experiment outcome indicates that the accuracy of goal position estimation is not only influenced by the number of cues but also by the individual hierarchy of the cues. The hierarchy emerges from the distance of the cue from the goal, although in some cases it can be affected by an outstanding identity of the particular cue. These findings are a basis for the experiment utilizing the functional magnetic resonance method to determine neuronal basics for estimating distances in virtual arena in both the egocentric and allocentric reference frame. Results support the findings of the cited papers about the participation of occipital and parietal lobe in estimating object distance in space. Comparison of the two reference frames showed that whereas the egocentric estimation is related to activity in premotor cortex,...
Max Frisch: Andorra
Trpković, Andrijana ; DUŠEK, Jan (advisor) ; TEMPÍR, Nikola (referee)
The writing of Max Frisch and especially Andorra is dealing with compesation with past and attitude, with we are having towards history and deeds that were done. If we are able of selfreflection not just as a nation, but also in personal lifes. Another level of the story is is unconformity and differency of a main character Andri. Frisch is writing about a land called Andorra, but reader cannot avoid similarity with his birthland Switzerland, as I clearly see the resemblance in ,,greatness" of Czech republic. This work is nothing but reflection of todays situation in society and its direction, as well as direction of Theater (the actor and spectator of today, relationship between them, pretending vs. authenticity) and culture in our country as well as in german speaking countries.
THEATRE PRODUCTION IN ORIGINALLY NON-THEATRICAL SPACES
Vanišová, Apolena ; MAKONJ, Karel (advisor) ; KLÍMA, Miloslav (referee)
In this essay, I focus on the issues of theatre production in an originally non-theatrical space. The work aims at describing the relation between the space and the directorial, stage design and visual component of a production, setting specific projects as examples. I map my work in an originally non-theatrical space and I describe the process of creation of individual projects of that kind. Based on the realization of many productions, theatre installations and one visual installation, I introduce possible artistic approaches and working procedures. The essence of this work lies in finding and naming the moments where the project is formed by the space and those where, in the contrary, the project affects an existing non-theatrical space. The thesis provides a summary of experience gained by working in non-theatrical spaces and suggests possible connection between artistic and production management activity. The reader is offered a number of starting points and assumptions in the matter of working in a non-theatrical space and our attention is brought to the advantages and difficulties of such work.
Stage design and his dramaturgical aspects
Vydarená, Tereza ; ŠPLÍCHALOVÁ, Kateřina (advisor) ; TÄUBELOVÁ, Kristýna (referee)
The theme STAGE DESIGN AND HIS DRAMATURGICAL ASPECTS discusses the principles of the author's sconographic performance based on the dramaturgical thinking. This is in addition to the visual component becomes one of the primary constituent elements in the process of creative theatre work. Image becomes the narrator of the story. Using the installation as a milestone between painting and theater performances. The practical part deals with the dramaturgical thinking by introducing 4 months of Oslo, and A Bar at the Folies which is based on theatre work with people with mental disabilities during the birth of the author´s scenographic performance.
