Occupational injuries among perioperative nurses

The bachelor thesis entitled "Occupational injuries of nurses in perioperative care" addresses the issue of occupational health and safety of perioperative nurses. The operating room environment is very specific and perioperative nurses are exposed to various hazards in their work. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the frequency and cause of occupational injuries of perioperative nurses in the course of their profession. Methods: In order to achieve the aim of the work, a questionnaire survey was carried out, the target group of which was all perioperative nurses working in the central operating theatres for adults and central operating theatres for children at Motol University Hospital. The survey included 37 completed questionnaires. Results: Based on the statistical evaluation of the data, it was found that 43,24 % of the respondents had an occupational injury in the last year. The most frequent injuries involved sharp instruments, specifically sewing needles and scalpels. The most common circumstance of injury was receiving the instrument from the doctor, due to haste or lack of time. Professional Contagions in Midwifery Care

Professional diseases are diseases, acquired in the exercise of the profession. Damage to health at work, and is it as an accident at work, occupational disease or risk of an occupational disease (1). Professional diseases are diseases arising from adverse effects, especially biological or other harmful influences. Professional infectious disease is a disease that results from exposure to biological agents. The originator of the disease to humans is a portable and professional disease (33). The theoretical part deals with describing the professional diseases in connection with the activities of a midwife, further describing the types of diseases and prevention, such as vaccination and barrier nursing care. The research part of this work addressed the survey views, a description of the procedures and their own experience of midwives. The group consisted of six midwives working in various departments of the obstetrics Department of obstetrics at the hospital-Jablonec nad Nisou, p.o. Another part of the research describes the observation of midwives. Before processing this Bachelor's thesis were laid down three goals. The first goal was to find out whether a midwife shall comply with the principles of a barrier to care. The second objective was to identify which diseases are no longer a midwife. The third objective was to determine whether the midwife know the documentation associated with the reporting of incidents.
