TITLE: Highschool students practical knowledge of nature subjects AUTHOR: Bc. Kamila Štěpánka Moravcová DEPARTMENT: Biology and Environmental Studies Department SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Petr Novotný, Ph.D. Abstract This text is aiming to species identification. Main target is how good or bad are students of secondary education (junior high school) in species identification. Theoretical part: Definition of basic terminilogy and detailed research and comparison (outcomes and methodics) of previous testings and questionaires of pre-school childern, primary, secondary and college students. Practical part: 1) Pre-research: Making lists of species, which would be used to test students. These lists were based on what contained students notes and what contained biology education itself. 2) Research: I was testing students and I compared outcomes with previous testings. Result is, that species identification is part of biology education, which still needs developing, because students aren't good at all in species identification. Usage of deciduous woody plants of Botanical garden of the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague in teaching of biology

I have decided to include into my diploma thesis the history overview of the Botanical Garden. A number of major events and pitfalls accompanied the history of the garden. The chapter about the general characteristics of the Botanical Garden of Charles University Science Faculty is also comprised Inside my thesis. There are also mentions about the exposition distinction to greenhouse and outside part and also the significant geopark which offers the additional opportunities for education. I am presenting here the offered programs of Botanical Garden for schools and the public without omitting the sample material offered to the visitors. I have also included the description of the innovative manner of interactive education of biology using the information boards and QR codes placed on these boards. Considering the didactic usage of Botanical garden I have created the worksheets which complement the excursion plan. So I have comprised the excursion planning, creation of worksheets, assembling the questions and the pitfalls during their creation in the next chapters. Afterwards I have described the excursion execution itself, its evaluation and the possible modifications of worksheets. Zuzana Kusová: Living Things, their Knowledge and Use in Life Science Preschool Education. (2010) In this work was verified the knowledge of living things among pupils from choiced nursery schools. Further was charted the usage of nature products in nursery schools. The next point was to make ones´ acquaintance with some methods of determination of the pupils{\crq} knowledge, find suitable methodology of knowledge determination and verification of their usage in nursery schools. For the determination of pupils knowledge was by the schoolmistress chosen the method of walking and dialogue about the nature products and sighting the nature products in real neighbourhood.
