Basal stimulation in preterm infants from the perspective of occupational therapist
Brandová, Petra ; Kryski, Marcela (advisor) ; Svěcená, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis is about the parents knowledge about the Basal stimulation concept. In the theoretical part we focus on the preterm infants, the classification and problems associated with immaturity. In following chapters we focus on the Basal stimulation concept and its components. Further we discuss about particular stimulations to use for preterm infants and confirm them with foreign studies. In the end of theoretical part we emphasise the importance of parent education and participation parents in the care of child. In the practical part we focus to achieve the target of this thesis and to confirm or refute the hypotheses. We tried to find out the parents awareness in the Hospital University Motol about the Basal stimulation concept in the care of preterm infants, in application of its components (kangaroo care, orofacial stimulation , mummy position, nest position) and in knowledge about the concept usage
Psychological aspects of parents'coping with premature childbirth
Ondřejková, Žaneta ; Soukupová, Tereza (advisor) ; Goldmann, Petr (referee)
The Bachelor's Thesis deals with the issue of premature birth in terms of psychological experience of parents of preterm babies. The work is mainly focused on the mother's psychological coping with this experience. The theoretical part contains the basic theoretical knowledge of preterm baby and its health and psychological specifics as well as the mothers' experiences in the preterm birth event and the relationship between the mother and the baby after the preterm birth. The options of a psychological support for these mothers are also the important part of this work. The empirical part consists of a qualitative research whose main objective is to describe how mothers were experiencing the preterm birth and how they coped with this event. Due to nature of the study the half-structured interview method and the data processing method of the grounded theory were selected. The conclusion compares the theoretical conception of prof. Zdeněk Matějček to the results of my own research.
Changes in Bone and Mineral Metabolism and the Role of Vitamin D in Very Low Birth Weight Infants
Matějek, Tomáš ; Skálová, Sylva (advisor) ; Šumník, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kutílek, Štěpán (referee)
Changes in bone and mineral metabolism and the role of vitamin D in very low birth weight infants. Firstly, the aim of dissertation work was to estimate physiological parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels and their relationship with bone metabolism parameters in otherwise healthy preterm newborns with birth weight 1000-1500 g. Secondly, to evaluate vitamin D status in mothers and their very low birth weight infants (VLBW) at birth and at discharge with currently recommended supplementation of vitamin D. Thirdly, to compare clinical outcomes of VLBW infants with 25-hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH)D] levels ≤ and > 25 nmol/l in umbilical cord blood and finally to evaluate umbilical cord vitamin D as a risk factor for respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants. It is a set of prospective observational studies involving immature newborns with birth weight below 1500 g. The parameters of mineral and bone metabolism were analysed in umbilical cord blood and newborn serum and urine during hospitalisation (PTH, 25-hydroxy vitamin D, S-Ca, S-P, ALP, U-Ca, U-P) and in pregnant women before delivery (25-hydroxy vitamin D). Bone mineralization was evaluated by bone densitometry. In a pilot study, from the total 134 examined serum samples for PTH levels the estimated reference range was 1.6 - 9.3 pmol/l. From the...

Positioning premature infants in terms of respiratory function and sucking
Matoušková, Marie ; Zounková, Irena (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
The aim of the thesis "positioning premature infants in terms of respiratory function and intake" is familiar with the term and preterm infant characteristics of this term. Further, there are given the anatomical and physiological differences from mature immature newborn (physiological) newborns, and some pathology of respiratory and digestive tract of preterm infants. The work discusses the positioning of premature infants and introduces the possibility of positioning in terms of respiratory function and suction. The work also includes case study prematurely born child Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
