Pražské pravoslavné chrámy Prague Orthodox Churches Petra Svobodová This thesis provides overview of orthodox churches - sanctuaries and chaples in Prague being used by Orthodox Church since 1870s. Describing the history of objects and their acquisition for the Orthodox Church, their architecture, facilities, decoration and other aspects. St Nicolas in the Old Town has been the first sanctuary acquired for church, magnificient piece of baroque architecture being used since 1870. After 1945 usage of the sanctuary was forbidden. After unsuccessfull attempts of another sanctuary acquisition, the church of St Charles the Borromeo in Resslova street was gained in 1933. Today is it Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral. Paratroopers, who committed assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, Nazi Deputy Reich-Protector, were hiding in this church after the incident. Their disclosure had consequences for the sanctuary and also for the entire Czech Orthodox church. The National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror is built here today. The Sanctuary of the Dormition of the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) on Olšany cemetery has been built as a cemetery chapel already in 1925. It has been used for regular worship as late as 1945. Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica

Diploma thesis "Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica" deals with the history, evolution and current state of religious structures of Eastern christian churches in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica. Each part of the investigated area has been analyzed in terms of the ethnic or. ecclesiological diaspora, its organizational capture (formation of the first parishes, dioceses, monasteries, schools and charitable organizations etc.) and on their current status (size and functionality of the existing church structure). Following the various jurisdictions and churches are described. A fundamental consideration is given to the canonical Orthodox Churches, then to the Orthodox Churches with less problematic canonical status, but there are also other Eastern Christian churches mentioned. Within the area the eminent figures of church life are closer described. This descriptive material is supplemented by interviews and journalistic texts, which further analyze situation of churches in the region and their various problems. It is also accompanied by photographic material. The thesis tries to describe ecclesiological tensions between the diaspora and mission, the diversity of ethnic and religious minorities and differences in their assimilation in the new religious, social and culture environment.
Nestinars in southeastern part of Bulgaria

Diploma thesis Nestinars in southeastern part of Bulgaria focuses on the material and spiritual culture of Nestinars, a small group of people living in region of Strandja. The body of work describes in detail the specific phenomena of spiritual culture, which cut across the structure of traditional and contemporary Bulgarian folk customs. It describes ceremonies that are part of the clan, family, annual festivals and church calendar. Nestinars as a subculture, whose socio-cultural negotiations and ideas to some extent differ from the majority of the Orthodox population, they are perceived externally as part of it. In this work we meet with traditional clothing, folklore music and holy sacrifice. The parallel with the Greek rite anastnaria is mentioned in the work as well. Both groups represent a traditional ceremony where believers show their devotion to the saints by dance and walking on burning wood charcoal. The Picture of Orthodoxy in the Novel Resurrection by L. N. Tolstoy

The theme of the thesis is The Picture of Orthodoxy in the Novel Resurrection by L.N. Tol-stoy. This novel is the main source and template of the work for processing of the topic, which was selected by author based of her own reading. The novel Resurrection is the fatal work for many reasons. It became a fatal termination of tsarist absolutism in the second half of the 19th century, synthesized masterful manner author´s life philosophy, became the cause of author´s excommunication and it was also the last novel before his death. The work is divided into two major parts, the first summarizes the biographical data and life events of the author, out-line his prosaic creation, his relationship to the religion and denomination, it also deals with his most important philosophical attitude and summarizes important facts about the status of the Orthodox Church in Russia in the second half of 19th century. The second chapter is devoted to a detailed analysis of the novel Resurrection according to the specified topic.
Icon therapy in treatment of drug addictions

The work focuses on the description of icon therapy, the therapeutic method used in the treatment of drug addictions to increase the client's motivation to heal. The first chapter summarizes the current approach to drug addiction in the Czech Republic, the services provided to drug users and the direction of development drug policy. Thinks about human spirituality and approaches which take it into account in the treatment of drug addicton. In the next section is icon therapy set in theological context, as based on Eastern Christian spirituality. The chapter contains the introduction to some concepts of Orthodox theology. Theres is explored a concept icon from different perspectives and finally described how icon therapy works in practice. In the final part are compared some aspects of icon therapy, music therapy and art therapy.
