The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical part, where the forms and goals of the practice are described. The practical part contains research questions, which were realized and evaluated by a quantitative research form of a questionnaire survey among the pupils of SZeŠ Tábor and Secondary School of Veterinary, Mechanical and Horticultural Ceske Budejovice. Cooperation of nurses and students of the field General nurse during practical education
BĚHANOVÁ, Kateřina
Still higher demands have been placed on the job of a general nurse recently. This is why secondary education started to seem insufficient and completion of higher vocational or university education has become necessary for future nurses. To be adequately prepared for their jobs the future graduates of the Nursing course have to obtain adequate practical experience during the practical education. Mutual cooperation between nurses and students is necessary in this context. Lack of such cooperation substantially reduces effectiveness of the educational process. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to map the factors affecting cooperation between nurses and students of the Nursing course during practical placement. 6 hypotheses were set to meet the goal.A quantitative research method was used in the empiric part of the thesis. The data collection itself was performed by means of two non-standardized questionnaires of own design. The questionnaires were distributed among 120 nurses from clinical workplaces of the České Budějovice Hospital, where the students of the Nursing course have their placements, and to 174 full-time students of all the study years of the Nursing course. The questionnaires were presented in written to the first year students, in electronic form to the second and third year students. Both the groups were asked 20 questions with application of closed, semi-open, open and filtered response variants. The data was processed in Excel, where the basic descriptive statistic was first applied. Absolute and relative rates of the individual responses were calculated within this step. The results were illustrated graphically to achieve better clarity. The set hypotheses were consequently tested on the base of the chi-square test. The research has revealed in general that most of the nurses are satisfied with the students and they consider their presence at the wards beneficial. The student have on the other hand more neutral opinion. The examination of the hypotheses has revealed that the year of study, the previous education of a student, the education of a nurse or the attitude of nurses to tertiary education of nurses has no influence on the cooperation between nurses and students. The age of nurses on the other hand affects the cooperation as younger nurses are more satisfied with the cooperation than the older ones. The dependence of cooperation of the department character has also been confirmed, as nurses from the Anaesthetic/ICU departments consider students at the workplace as a burden unlike nurses from the follow-up treatment departments. The research has also provided numerous interesting answers. The replies reveal that most nurses and students are satisfied with the cooperation. If a conflict occurs at a workplace, it is most frequently a misunderstanding in communication, unwillingness and arrogance of nurses or students. The thesis provides an insight into the problems in cooperation between nurses and students during practical placement. The results may be useful either for nurses or the students for better awareness of the roots of the problems in the practical education so that they are able to solve such problems. The results may also be helpful for the staff of hospitals and schools where general nurses are prepared. The thesis may also be an input to further research.
