The golden rule of morality in practice
PRÁŠKOVÁ, Tereza
The golden rule of morality is a universal pattern of human behavior that requires us not to do to others what we do not want others to do to us. This bachelor thesis deals with a view of morality, ethics, and their application in everyday life. At the same time, it maps some complex ethical and moral decisions, for example in the field of human conscience and honor. Furthermore, this work deals with man and his self-reflection and the issue of perception of good and evil. In this work, it is also possible to find related information about, norms and law and also a summary of current moral norms, morality in religion, and information about the categorical imperative, as the law of morality is called. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to map the arguments that informants most often use for their moral behavior and what role the golden rule of morality plays in their decision-making. These goals and conclusions are then summarized in the final part of this work. Qualitative research, the method of questioning, and the technique of semi-structured interview were chosen for the practical part. The results were processed using the method of creating tufts, which is used to connect certain statements into groups according to common features. From the results of the research, it is clear that informants follow the golden rule of morality in most cases, although they are not aware of it in theory. The motivation for their moral behavior is mostly their conscience or internal principles. This work can be beneficial in social work as a probe into people's thinking.
CONSUMER PROTECTION IN CZECH REPUBLIC AND EUROPEAN UNION
ŠVEJDA, Pavel
A consumer ´s protection is relatively young and dynamically developing discipline which blends with other branches for example the economy, the law, the business, the marketing etc. This graduation theses describes the consumer ´s protection in the Czech Republic in comparison with the European Union. The Czech Republic made a tremendous progress in adopting Union ´s norms in recent years, but still is behind stricter norms of the western countries. In the Czech Republic still dominates inexperienced and ignorance of the Czech consumers in relation to their rights. Accordingly to this, it is necessary to make other steps, which will inform much more the consumer about his or her rights. Higher informedness, stricter application of norms and the laws, and their verification in business use will lead to the existence of more perfect internal market of free trade.
"Sinking Islands" and the United Nations Security Council
Bruner, Tomáš ; Hynek, Nikola (advisor) ; Bílková, Veronika (referee) ; Karlas, Jan (referee)
Certain Small Island Developing States (hereinafter the "SIDS") such as Kiribati or Tuvalu are often incorrectly called "sinking islands" because their highest points are located just a few meters above the sea level. Sea level rise may turn their territories to uninhabitable land gradually disappearing beneath the tide. Worsening of the environmental conditions causes internal displacement, migration and other problems. SIDS repeatedly brought their plight to the United Nations Security Council (the "UNSC") during its meetings in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2019. They demanded that the UNSC should deal with their situation as a potential security issue and safeguard more equal distribution of environmental security risks and costs. During the UNSC negotiations, various states attempted to interpret and re-interpreted the UNSC mandate in order to suit their interests. The representatives of SIDS suggested that the UNSC should be a body based on the principles of distributive justice decision-making and thus safeguard fairer sharing of threats and burdens, including those of environmental character. The rapidly developing states strongly opposed; they implicitly claimed that the UNSC should be based rather on the principles of commutative justice, i.e. decide in strictly given situations of violations of...

Financial the Administration of Sicily as a Roman Province
Hejda, Josef ; Skřejpek, Michal (advisor) ; Falada, David (referee)
This work aims to introduce readers to the Roman administrative and financial law. These laws are closely related to the development of Roman law as such and with its transformation from a small city-state to the land state and finally to a large empire with vast territories on three continents. During this evolution can be observed increasing demands on the state administration and various approaches to the territorial organization of the empire. On the one hand Italian territory was initially given priority as the Roman homeland, on the other hand were provincial units, which alone have been forced by Rome to pay taxes. In the period of dominate these differences were removed without significant exceptions. Sicily was standing at the birth of the provincial administration. Here arose the first forms of provincial rights and also appeared first practical problems of its active application. This remarkable island was a place where Rome learned to control other nations, province which funded the development of the late Republic of Rome, and a platform which helped to control the Mediterranean.
