The Perception of Poverty by Second Grade Pupils at Selected Elementary School

The diploma thesis focuses on the perception of poverty among the pupils of the second grade of the selected primary school - Primary School and Kindergarten Dolní Poustevna. Specifically, it deals with the extent to which pupils distinguish subjective perception of poverty, whether they are able to distinguish groups of people at risk of poverty, whether they are oriented in the possible assistance to people at risk of poverty. Distinguish and describe different aspects of child poverty. Interpretation of the issue. The theoretical part is divided into two parts. The first part explains and describes aspects of poverty, from the definition of poverty itself, to its concepts, causes, measurement, the poverty cycle and the issue of social exclusion. The second part focuses on the issue of the child and his/her needs. It deals with the psychological and biological development of the child and the importance of the family in the child's life. Attention is also paid to the social and legal protection of the child, the prevention of poverty and the role of the state in this issue. Bachelor thesis "Child Poverty" deals with poverty of children in the Czech Republic compared to European Union. The theoretical part defines poverty conceptions, social exclusion and circle of poverty. It deals with types of measurements used for defining poverty threshold and crucial factors determining deprivation. Further it describes social transfers eliminating child poverty and the whole population. Second part deals with at- risk-of-poverty rate of children in the Czech Republic and the EU in past few years. Thesis describes impact of social transfers on eliminating child poverty. Thesis contains SWOT analysis of social policies reducing child poverty in the Czech Republic.
Sustainable Development Goal Nr. 1: End of Poverty

Nowadays, the question of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seems to get more and more attention. This bachelor thesis focuses on the first goal - end poverty in all its forms everywhere. There is a great number of literature which examines possible determinants of poverty in order to create effective strategies to fight witht it. Majority of them focuses on the study in particular countries or regions since their data are easier to access. On the contrary, this thesis examines variables and their effect on extreme poverty in the world with the use of the econometric analysis on panel data. There are seven independent variables used: GDP per capita, Gini index as a proxy variable for income inequality, population growth and four education attainment levels - no education, primary, secondary and tertiary. The World Bank was chosen as the primary source of data with a great number of observations from 125 countries over time period of 2000 and 2017. According to the results of the study, explanatory variables GDP per capita, income inequality, no education and tertiary education significantly affect extreme poverty. Also, the results show that the goal of 0 % is unlikely to be fulfilled by the year of 2030. To sum up, the first goal of the SDGs turned out as too ambitious. For its...

Level of income inequality by social status of people in society

This master thesis aims to find out the socio-economic factors, which most affect the level of income inequality in society. The aim is to quantify the contribution of each social groups to the overall income defferentiation by decomposition of some income inequality indicators. The thesis is focused on a group of people based on their social status in society and their level of education, and so it is determined in relation the social background and income level. Income distribution strongly affects the value of risk-of poverty, and therefore this thesis put emphasis on the relationship between income inequality and poverty rate of each group. Development of various indicators measuring income inequality provides a comprehensive overview of the situation of income differentiation in the Czech Republic and also indicates the trend for income distribution in the last period.
