The diagnosis of school maturity in relation to the pupil's adaptation to the 1st year of primary school
Hnyková, Radka ; Šturma, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the determination of the development characteristics of the period from the age of three to eight (i.e. pre-school and younger school age). The principal focus is on the issue of school maturity, the possibilities of its diagnosis and the pupils' adaptation to the first year of primary school. The empirical part introduces a quantitative research focused on some diagnostic methods (the Orientation Test of School Maturity - Orientační test školní zralosti, the Knowledge Test of Pre-school Children - Zkouška znalostí předškolních dětí and The Star - Wave Test) and the possibility of using these methods for predicting a child's adaptation to the first year of primary school. The thesis aims to examine how these methods could be used and also to show the possible limits related to using these methods. Keywords: school maturity, diagnostics, postponement, preschool age, primary schoool matriculation, adaptation
Analysis of fertility postponement and recuperation in Czechia based on the cohort approach
Ženíšková, Aneta ; Kocourková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
The main objective of this work is a cohort analysis of postponement and recuperation of fertility in the Czech Republic after 1960. Two methods were used for this purpose - basic benchmark model and relational model. The essence of the basic benchmark model is comparison of cohort cumulative fertility deviations between chosen benchmark cohort of women and other cohorts. The relational model is based on the cohort cumulative fertility deviations of cohorts from the chosen cohort related to the schedule of national standard deviations. The significant shifts in the timing of childbearing were revealed. While the first order is characterized by early fertility decline and subsequent significant fertility recuperation, the second order is characterized by a further decrease in fertility with slight recuperation. However, fertility of third and higher order continues to decline and has been found out. practically no recuperation. The second part of this work describes the respondents' answers to questions about timing of parenting. The main findings are that decisions about parenting is most influenced by whether respondents have a suitable partner, private housing and are financially secure. Most respondents postpone the birth of their first child due to the absence of a suitable partner, resp....
Analysing fertility developments in selected European countries between 1970 and 2014 using alternative methods
Vachuška, Jakub ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Šťastná, Anna (referee)
Analysing fertility developments in selected European countries between 1970 and 2014 using alternative methods Abstract Transversal fertility indices as the total fertility rate are distorted by tempo effect when timing of childbearing is changing. New indices as the tempo-adjusted total fertility rate remove this distortion and give another perspective on fertility trends in countries with present tempo effect. These countries are former Eastern Bloc countries and other European countries. This thesis uses the tempo-adjusted total fertility rate and data from Human Fertility Database to describe tempo distortion in fertility level in Sweden, Norway, Czechia, Slovakia, Estonia and Lithuania in period 1970-2014. A more detailed analysis by parity in Sweden and Czechia is conducted in the same period. Negative tempo effect has been present from 1970s in Sweden and Norway and then from 90s in the countries left with fertility postponement being very widespread. The tempo effect level in Sweden and Czechia was substantial at parity one and diminishing with higher parities. What do preschool children expect from school
VAVŘINCOVÁ, Aneta
This bachelor thesis deals with the children of pre-school age and their readiness for elementary school. It is mainly focused on the child and the child's expectations and ideas about school. The theoretical part contains a chapter in which a brief general characterization of a pre-school child is provided. The next chapter describes elementary school maturity and the factors that influence it. In the research part, quantitative research methods are used. This part is targeted at children who were enrolled for elementary school and have their own expectations about entering school in September. The goal of the research is to find out whether the children are looking forward to entering school and what are their expectations. Another part of the research is to analyze whether the children's parents and relatives influence their expectations, and if so, whether they arouse excitement or fear in the children.
