Emission of nanoparticles in the nanotextile industry
Nechvátal, Marek ; Klouda, Karel ; Kubátová, Hana ; Roupcová, Petra ; Bátrlová, Kateřina
We encounter smoke quite regularly in our lives. Smoke consists of gaseous, liquid and solid components that are produced by the combustion/oxidation of fuel. The chemical composition of smoke depends not only on the fuel used but also on a number of other parameters (operation, technology, atmospheric effects). The chemical composition of smoke is therefore variable and cannot be easily characterised. The combustion of wood releases into the atmosphere not only unconsumed air but also wood particles, CO2, methane, volatile organic compounds, trace elements and ultrafine particles. Measurements are published on this topic for a given type of combustion technology with a specific fuel type. The procedure for measuring the concentration of nanoparticles (10-700 nm) in wood smoke and their mean diameters can be called "field". The aim of these measurements in real situations was to find and describe sources of elevated nanoparticle concentrations. Substantial quantitative information on the occurrence of nanoparticles in wood combustion in different types of wood burners was obtained in the field under real climatic conditions, typical of the winter season in Central Europe, when most domestic heating takes place. Thus, wood burning in households in predominantly agricultural areas of the Czech Republic can be considered as a major source of outdoor air pollution, but can also have a significant impact on the deterioration of indoor air quality. At the same time, it can be assumed that the negative impact of nanoparticles on human health in areas polluted by wood smoke is weaker than the impact elsewhere - in industrial, more polluted areas.

Sinčáková, Lenka ; Řezáčová, Veronika (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
Mikroplasty, široko zastúpené vo vodnom prostredí, slúžia ako vektor širokej škály kontaminantov, vrátane ťažkých kovov. Táto práca sa zaoberá adsorpciou piatich ťažkých kovov (Pb, Hg, Zn, Cu and Cd) na polyetylén tereftalát (PET), rozšírený polutant riek a morí. Pokiaľ ide o vplyv veľkosti mikroplastov na proces adsorpcie, nebol zistený jasný trend. Salinita prostredia má značný vplyv na adsorpčný proces s pozorovateľným poklesom adsorbovaných množstiev v prostredí s vysokou iónovou silou. Analyzované ťažké kovy boli zoradené vzostupne podľa ich schopnosti adsorpcie na PET nasledovne: Hg
Effect of effluent from wastewater treatment plants on karst rivers
Schrimpelová, Kateřina ; Gruberová, Eva (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
Karst rivers are special type of rivers because of their hydrography conditions. They usually flow from non-karst area and as soon as they reach in to the karst area they disappear underground. There, they flow through cavities until they reach the surface again. The aim of this thesis is to assess the impact of water outflow from wastewater treatment plant on karst rivers. The study was done in the central area of CHKO Moravský kras where the impact of two WWTP on a cave system Rudické propadání – Býčí skála is evaluated. As a part of this study a half-year monitoring was carried out, which consisted of water sampling once every two weeks. In total, 13 water samples were taken from 8 sampling points. Also 4 additional one-time samples were taken from the cave system. Moreover, flow rate, temperature, conductivity, oxygen concentration and pH were measured at the sampling point. Afterwards, the content of undissolved solids, CODCr, BOD, N-NH4+, N-NO2-, N-NO3-, P-PO43- and total phosphorus were determined in the samples. The change of parameters in time and during the flow in the river was observed from the measured values. The balance of pollutants in particular parts of the river was calculated. The outflow values from waste water treatment plants were compared to the emission limits for surface waters and the parameters of rivers were compared to the environmental quality standards. According to the results, it can be observed that the water quality improves after passing through the cavities. It was proven that the outflows from the observed waste water treatment plants are negatively influencing the water streams. The most serious problem is the wash up of sludge from WWTP Rudice and its consequent sedimentation in the river and/or outflow to the Rudické propadání.

Pollution of karst watercourses in Říčka river basin
Chlopčíková, Anna ; Tůma, RNDr Antonín (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the monitoring of pollution parameters in the Moravian Karst area, sampling and the analyses of samples once every 4 weeks. In total, 9 water samples were taken from 8 sampling points. Flow rate, temperature, conductivity, concentration of dissolved oxygen and pH value were measured at each sampling point. Afterwards, content of suspended solids, CODcr, BOD5, ammonia (N-NH4), nitrites (N-NO2), nitrates (N-NO3), organic nitrogen (Norg) and total phosphorus (Ptot) were determined in the samples. At the end of the thesis, the obtained results were compared with each other and with the values stipulated by Government Decree No. 401/2015 Coll. The parameters were processed into tables that provide an overview of average, minimum, and maximum values on each of the sampling points. These tables indicate values that exceed the limits set by the legislation. Also, the change of parameters in time and along the river flow was evaluated from the measured values.

Svoboda, Marek ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part deals with defining the main concepts, properties of biomass and pellets. Further, the procedures for measuring agropellets properties according to valid standards are mentioned. The following is a selection of the raw materials for the production of agropellet, with the determination of their properties. The theoretical part closes background research emissions from combustion and emission standards for a solid fuel boiler. The second part is an experimental one, which determines the formation of solid pollutants in combustion of four types of pellets made from alternative sources. Here are the graphs of the gaseous emissions of each of them. At last there will be a comparison of emissions agro pellets with more widespread wood pellets.
