Guilt, Purification, Forgiveness
Slezáková, Veronika ; Keřkovský, Pavel (advisor) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the conceptions of Guilt, Purification and Forgiveness. Based on the study of the writings of Karl Jaspers, Božena Komárková, Martin Buber and Helmut Weber, the thesis comes to an understanding of the issues of guilt, forgiveness and purification in both philosophical and theological terms. Furthermore, this work introduces other issues that relate to the chosen topic, for example, the concepts of Repentance, Penance and Conversion. Thanks to the acquired findings, I want to come to an understanding of the concept of guilt in Bernhard Schlink's novel The Reader. This thesis is concerned with Schlink's comprehension of guilt as well as with the foundation for reconciliation with guilt that Schlink outlines. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Atonement and redemption in the novel Crime and Punishment with reference to Biblical texts
Kuthan, Robert ; Lukeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Drozenová, Wendy (referee)
Annotation: This thesis is an attempt for a religous interpretation of Dostoeyevsky's novel Crime and Punishment. The thesis attempts to interpret the novel from the perspective of redemption and atonement. It is not our aim to focus on seperate aspects of the novel. Rather, we wish to provide a complete interpretation of the novel through the religious theme of redemption. By means of Bachtin's method of 'grotesque realism' we observe the development of religous themes in the novel from the perspective of their carnivalisation. We observe the development of the resurrection theme in the novel and find this theme supported by various forms of symbolism of life and death in the novel. This thesis considers Lazarus's story in John 11 as central to the meaning of the novel and focuses on literary elaboration of this evangelical text within the novel.

Christian motives in poetics of a novel Resurrection from Leo Tolstoy
Bojková, Larysa ; Vasilyeva, Elena (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Antonín (referee)
Resumé Tématem bakalářské práce jsou Křesťanské motivy v poetice románu Lva Nikolajeviče Tolstého Vzkříšení. Cílem práce bylo sledovat přístup autora ke křesťanskému učení v románu. První část práce nastínila historii pravoslavné církve v Rusku, její dogmata a tradice.
