Addressing the sexuality of people with disabilities from the perspective of social workers
WOLFOVÁ, Natálie Michala
This bachelor's thesis explores the topic of sexuality by persons with disabilities. The main aim of this thesis was to describe the experience that social workers have when dealing with sexuality by persons with disabilities, who live in residential facilities. A partial aim of the thesis was to discover the attitude of social workers to the issues with sexuality by persons with disabilities. The practical part of this bachelor's thesis was realized with qualitative research. The collection of the data was performed with semi-structured interviews. Social workers, who work in residential facilities with persons with disabilities, were selected intentionally for the research. The collected data were processed using coding and subsequently divided into categories and subcategories. It was discovered from the research that persons with disabilities experience their sexuality actively. One of the indicators of experiencing sexuality may be affection for others. Also touches, hugs, or passing kisses. Social workers and organisations, in which they work, have a favourable attitude towards the topic of sexuality of their clients. A free space is provided to the disabled. The organisation enables privacy to its clients when meeting their sexual needs. The clients may openly communicate about their sexuality. There are some methods made, which are based on the theoretical information and experience with expressing clients' sexuality according to which the residential facilities act. Within the promotion and development of themes of sexuality, the knowledge in this bachelor's thesis could help the providers of social services in the process of improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the area of sexuality.
The Quality of Life of Social Workers in the Prachatice Area
SVĚCHOTOVÁ, Marie
This bachelor thesis is focused on the Guality of life of social workers in the district of Prachatice. The work is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, I dealt with the issue of quality of life, its definition and the factors affecting the quality of life. Furthermore, the personality of the social worker, including his role, competencies, burnout syndrome, supervision, residential facilities and the target group of clients were considered. The aim of the work was to find out the subjectively perceived quality of life of social workers providing social services in a residential facility in the district of Prachatice. Also, I pointed out what factors affect the quality of life. In connection with the mentioned goal, a hypothesis was established: H1: The subjectively perceived quality of life of social workers providing social services in a residential facility depends on the target group of clients with whom they work. In the practical part, a quantitative research survey is performed using a semi-structured questionnaire of my own design. The research group consisted of a total of 34 social workers who provide social services in residential facilities in the district of Prachatice. Data evaluation and hypothesis testing were performed by the Chi-square test of independence. The research survey showed that the subjectively perceived quality of life of social workers in the district of Prachatice does not depend on the target group of clients with whom they work. A significant relationship between individual target groups and the perceived quality of life has not been demonstrated. The results of the research could be a source of information for employers providing social services in a residential facility in the district of Prachatice. At the same time, they could serve as a basis for other social facilities, which, thanks to the information obtained, could focus attention on more effective care for their social workers and thus ensure a better quality of the working environment.

Štegmannová, Ingrid ; Havrdová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Holmerová, Iva (referee) ; Janečková, Hana (referee)
1 Name of paper / Name of work The implementation of social services quality standards in residential facilities for elderly people - Ethical aspects Abstract The changes in the approach to the clients and adjustments of the run of the facility to their needs are one of the biggest long-term challenges for the service providers. The basis for the correct setting of all the parameters of service (process, personnel and operating) are standards in the quality of social services which involve certain principles and ethical values altogether. One of the essential tools in the changes in approach to clients is the principle of individualization of care, which can be achieved by setting the services to each client individually so that the service provided reflects their real need as much as possible. This dissertation focuses on the individualization of care as a significant indicator in the changes of approach to clients. We tried to figure how the individualization of care reflects in the attitudes of organizations to implement quality standards and how it affects the worker's personality and chosen organizational aspects. An interim goal of this paper was also to identify the ethical aspects which can accompany the introduction of quality standards into practice. We have chosen a method of quantitative...

Social work with elderly people in resid ential facilities
KOLÁŘÍKOVÁ, Martina
The thesis Individual Program-Planning in the Nursing Home Světlo focuses on an individual programming in a nursing home. The goal of the thesis is to provide detailed information about individual program-planning of social services in nursing homes in general, and about the roles of social worker, key worker, and client. The whole process is illustrated by description of one specific facility, which is the Nursing Home Světlo. The thesis is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter contains information pertaining the changes in one's lifespan, and the related issues. Strategies of understanding the aging process are introduced, as they are closely related to the client's attitudes towards individual planning. The second chapter focuses on a division of specific needs in the elderly. It explores spiritual needs in depth because these tend to be neglected in most nursing homes. The third chapter describes residential and social services for the elderly in state-operated facilities as defined by the law, specifically number 108/2006 Sb. about the required standards of quality of services including individual planning. In this chapter, the Nursing Home Světlo is introduced. In the last chapter the process of an individual program-planning is described, from an intake interview with clients to the evaluation of the whole process. The chapter also focuses on treatment plans, assessment of individual needs, personal goals, and the role of a key worker. The author concludes that an individual approach to clients with respect to their habits, rituals, needs, and wishes is necessary in this field. A true interest in client's lives and team work are equally important. Only such approach is able to ensure a high quality of social services that will guarantee satisfaction of clients in nursing homes and senior centers.
