Influence of birth order on a person with a focus on middle children
Sasová, Viktorie ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Šebánková, Blanka (referee)
Family represents one of the key environmental factors significantly influencing individuals. Previous studies have shown that the way a person is influenced within this environment i also determined by the role they occupy within the family. One of the related factors can be, among others, the birth order. It may play a role in shaping personality trats among siblings and influencing their life attitudes. For a better understanding of the effects of birth order, this work first addresses the differences between siblings from an evolutionary and ecological perspective, identifies the main factors influencing the birth order effect, and describes the tge characteristics of each specific birth order type. The work provides insights into the issue of birth order's influence, with particular focus on middle-born children, in relation to their personality, sexual behavior, and psychological specificities of middleborns. Research has shown that birth order has a significant effect on middle-born children, particularly in the areas of prosocial behavior, sexual strategy, and manifestations of self- harming or suicidal behavior. However, there is a relatively limited number of atudies specifically addressing the influence of birth order on middlborns. Additionally, many of these studies were published...
Reflection of sibling relationship in art production
NOVÁKOVÁ, Gabriela
The bachelor thesis explores the possibilities of using art therapy elements in the relationships between siblings. The work is divided between a theoretical and a practical section. The theoretical part defines nuances in siblings' relationships, siblings' constellations, and fairytales. The work focuses on the fairytale Gingerbread house, which provides a base point for the fieldwork with respondents. The tale's history and interpretation potential are explored. The practical section provides an overview of the art therapy fieldwork with 5 respondents. It describes the used data collection methods and elaborates on instructions given to respondents for their individual artwork. In the section dedicated to case studies, 4 respondent cases are explored. It aggregates information collected during the interviews with respondents and compares them to the content, that is possible to find in their paintings.
Awareness about sibling relationships in kindergarten
MACHÁČKOVÁ, Lenka
The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis "Perception of sibling relationships among preschool teachers" summarizes the influences in development of a child's personality and the aspects of the different birth orders. In the practical part, semi-structured interviews with kindergarten teachers examined the extent to which they perceive the importance of sibling relationships and birth order for understanding the behavior of children in kindergarten. Analysis of the interviews explored teachers' awareness of the topic, their opinion on the influence of birth order and the possibility of using this knowledge in day-to-day work as kindergarten teachers, for example to explain the behavior of their wards. Our research has shown that educators do not consciously take into account the order of a child's birth, but at the same time they do notice it in some of their wards and use this knowledge to help regulate some typical manifestations of children's behavior.
Application of fairy tale topics in artetherapeutical approach to solving siblings´ relationships
HÁJEK HOLÁ, Zuzana
The work focuses on the theme of sibling relationships appearing in the fairy tales Cinderella and Gingerbread house. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the differences in the processing of individual authors with respect to their relationship with their sibling, if they have a brother or sister, if they are a younger or older sibling. In the thesis there are outlined the main sibling constellations and their basic characteristics, the importance of fairy tale themes in the life of an individual and selected passages of fairy tales that touch the topic of sibling relationships. Symbols and their meanings, together with information obtained from the interviews with the authors of pictures, are used to interpret both themes painted by the addressed participants. Influences that may be decisive for selecting a particular display of the fairy tale are identified, mentioned identical and different elements, and compared within the group. Given the small sample of participants, the results of this work cannot be generalized, but the conclusions of the thesis may serve as a topic for further studies.
The influence of birth order on social pathological phenomena and risky behavior
Polienko, Arina ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Daňková, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the influence of birth order on social pathological phenomena and risky behavior. It describes the theory of birth order and emphasizes its evolutionary-biological assumptions. The main goal of the thesis is to summarize existing knowledge about the relationship of birth order with selected socially unacceptable phenomena. It compares the diverse results of scientific studies and assumes possible causal mechanisms of the dynamics observed in them. It points to understudied areas that require further investigation. In these areas, the thesis tries to predict theoretically possible indirect dependence through other factors that are connected with the theory of birth order. It points to the importance for research of such aspects of birth order theory as the age spacing and gender of siblings. This thesis should serve as a theoretical basis for further research of the issue.
Influence of birth order and sex of siblings on sexual behavior and preferences
Daňková, Hana ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Krejčová, Lucie (referee)
Ontogeny of a human being is influenced by several innate and environmental factors. One of the key environmental factors is family, its structure, and the dynamics of family relationships. These can depend, among other things, on the birth order. Relatively a lot of research has been conducted to study the effect of birth order on humans, but the area of human sexuality is often neglected. Research in this area has so far yielded relatively inconsistent results and needs to be expanded further with new knowledge. That is the main goal of this diploma thesis. In our cross-sectional study, 4495 subjects from two-child families were analyzed. We performed a partial correlation analysis of birth order and selected variables related to human sexuality, considering the sex of siblings. Particular attention was paid to the first sexual experience, the number of sexual partners, sociosexual orientation (SOI-R), and dominant-submissive sexual preferences. We found that the order of birth is related to several of these variables (age of first sexual experience, number of sexual partners, sexual preferences), but the key role is played by the combination of the individual's gender and the sex of his sibling. These results should be followed up by more detailed research within specific families to verify the...
The influence of birth order on chosen mental disorders
Havlová, Adéla ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Tureček, Petr (referee)
This work provides a basic introduction to the problematic of how the birth order affects human mental health. It explores the effects of birth order on three selected mental disorders: schizofrenia, anxiety and depression. The introduction provides explanation of basic terms and formulations for better orientation in this topic. There are several studies exploring the birth order effects on human mental health included in this work. The researches show, that in case of schizophrenia, the effect may apply to last born children, in the case of anxiety, the effect may apply to middle children and in the case of depression, it applies to firstborns. This work uses knowledge from fields of psychology, biology, evolutionary biology and human ethology.
Family constellation and its influence on human sexuality
Pitáková, Hana ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Zikánová, Tereza (referee)
The focus of this thesis is on the influence of sibling constellation on human sexuality. It concentrates especially on the influence of the birth order on sexual strategy, mate choice, sexual orientation and sexual onset of adolescents. It contains a comprehensive overview of the studies that have been carried out in this field, including the general trends and their possible causes. At the same time, it highlights the lack of attention to the insufficiently explored areas that should be exporated in the future. The introductory chapters also provide a brief summary of the findings of sibling constellations and human sexuality.

Slavíčková, Petra ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Mužáková, Monika (referee)
What influence was health disadvantage on constellation of siblings Author: Bc. Petra Slavíčková ABSTRACT The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of sibling constellation and how these can be influenced by health disabilities, specifically according to the birth order of the disabled child. This is a qualitative research. The data collection is made using interviews with young healthy adult siblings of disabled children. Categorical systems and data comparison sorted per younger and older siblings of disabled children are used for the analysis of collected data. The aim of this thesis is to broaden the issue of siblings of disabled children by a new point of view and find out which conformities and differences are between sibling constellations of younger and older siblings of disabled children. The outcomes of the research revealed numerous differences between younger and older siblings of children with disabilities in the fields of relationships, opinions and attitudes. It was found out generally, that the fact of sibling disability is perceived more by their younger siblings and this fact has a greater influence on their regular life. KEY WORDS family, siblings, sibling constellations, order of birth, health disabilities
