Nursing care of patient with quadriplegia

The bachelor thesis focuses on nursing care of a quadruplegic patient. The theoretical part describes anatomy and physiology of spine and spinal cord, characteristics of disability, first aid, etiology, symptomatology, diagnostics, therapy, complications and nursing care. The sources for an elaboration of the theoretical part were found in the National Medical Library, via Medvik, on Wikiscriptions, on the thesis repositories and on the Spinal Unit website. For a larger amount of resources, research was made in the National Medical Library based on keywords. For the elaboration of the practical part, a qualitative research method was chosen in the form of a case study of a patient with quadruplegia. Case study includes information from medical records, interviews with the patient and observations. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to process a case study, which includes a nursing plan of a selected patient with all the specifics, that the care for the quadruplegic patient brings us. The second goal is to raise the awareness of the care provided on the spinal unit amongst general public and healthcare commmunity. Title: Case study of physiotherapeutic care for a patient with the diagnosis of an ischemic cerebrovascular accident. Objectives: This work aims at processing the casuistry of a patient with the diagnosis of an ischemic cerebrovascular accident. I'll summarize the theoretical knowledge about cerebrovascular accidents and subsequent rehabilitation. The aim of the special part is to process the examination, to propose the therapy, to monitor its course and to evaluate the effect of the therapy on the patient's condition. Methods: I acquired the practical sources for processing this bachelor's thesis during my professional practice, which took place from 15th January to 9th Ferbruary, 2018, at the rehabilitation in-patients' ward of Regional Hospital Kladno. The paper is composed of two parts - the general and the special ones. The general part of the thesis deals with the theoretical knowledge about cerebrovascular accidents, the anatomy of the cerebrovascular system, the classification of the cerebrovascular accidents, possible causes of their origin, their prevention and subsequent rehabilitation. The Baccalaureate Thesis will in its theoretical part include the characteristics of the given institute, problems of application of art-therapy in the institute, application of art-therapeutic techniques andprocedures. I mention anamnestic and diagnostic data of selected clients, including characteristics of their disablement. I describe selections, methods and diversity of art-therapeutic work according to the clients' disablement. In the applied part I describe the casuistic of individual clients and art-therapeutic work applied in our home with demonstration of output of my clients. I end up with the list of applied literature.
