Author: Barbora Němcová Supervisor: Mgr. Kateřina Maršáková Title: Case study of the physiotherapy treatment of a patient with peripheral palsy of radial nerve. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is to summarize theoretical knowledge of peripheral palsy, especially the radial nerve palsy, including physiotherapy treatment options. My other aim is to elaborate a detailed case study of a patient with this diagnosis, in which I use the knowledge and skills acquired during my studies. Methods: The thesis consists of two main parts. The general part summarizes theoretical knowledge of peripheral radial palsy based on Czech and English bibliohraphy available in printed and electronic form. The basic anatomy of the radial nerve etiology and clinical picture of damage and its classification are described here. In the upcomming part the treatment of peripheral paresis is described with a more detailed insight into physiotherapy care and the use of specific methods. The practical part documents the case report of a patient with this diagnosis. Examing and therapeutic methods and techniques which are taught during physiotherapy Bc. programme at FTVS UK were used in care of the patient. Results: A comparison of the entrance and exit kinesiology examination showed a slight increase in the strenght of...
Problems synkinesis mimics muscles in peripheral facial nerve paresis
ČECHOVÁ, Andrea
The bachelor thesis entitled "Problems of mimetic muscle synkinesis in peripheral facial nerve palsy" aims to provide a comprehensive view and describe peripheral facial nerve palsy, as well as to describe the possibilities of physiotherapy to prevent synkinesis. Peripheral palsy of the facial nerve has recently become a very common neurological disease. With our faces, we express both our emotions and mood, either consciously or unconsciously, so it can have a big impact on the mental state. It is most often manifested by paralysis of mimic muscles, when wrinkles on the forehead are smoothed out. The eyelid is weakened, lagophthalmos can occur, the nasolabial furrow and sagging mouth are smoothed out, and the patient has difficulty inflating the cheeks and whistling. This differs from the central palsy, which affects only the lower branch and manifests itself mainly in the fallen mouth. The theoretical part includes a comprehensive view of Cranial nerve VII, its branching and anatomy, division of mimic muscles, it further addresses the difference between peripheral and central palsy, examination options, therapeutic treatment of polio and a description of synkinesis. In the practical part, the method of qualitative research in the form of 3 case studies has been used. All patients have undergone an entrance and exit examination, where I have examined the patient using aspection, palpation, I have examined the motor function of the mimic muscles and everything has been recorded in the table according to Pietruski. The therapy included the application of physical therapy such as solux or laser, facial massage, exercises according to the Kenny method, the use of biofeedback with visual inspection in the mirror. We have achieved positive results of therapy and there have been no pathological interactions. For this diagnosis, treatment is individual and long-term. The patient should be patient and not give up. Every visible improvement leads to patient motivation. Autotherapy is also important, where the patient works with himself / herself.

THESIS ABSTRACT Name, surname: Bc. Pavlína Kořánová Supervisor: MUDr. Ivan Humhej, PhD. Labor consultant: Bc. Olga Nováková, M. Sc. Thesis title: Occupational therapy treatment strategies in patients with upper limb peripheral nerve injury Thesis abstract: Peripheral nerve injuries of upper limb are often identified by sensory and motor control deficit. Limitations are most likely evident in their performance of activities of daily living (ADL), leisure and work activities. Significant neurogenic pain is a typically included and can cause poor quality of life. The result of injury is not only affecting the physical area, but also psychological and socio- economic aspects. Treatment is often time-consuming and there is an uncertain prognosis. The overview of the issue summarizes basic information, identification of specific peripheral nerve of upper limb (radial, median, ulnar) and their functional deficits. It also presents actual options of treatment, specially with an emphasis on occupational therapy. The purpose of this final thesis is to extend the knowledge and treatment options of evidence-based occupational therapy. The outputs represent an overview of occupational therapy treatment strategies in patients with upper limb peripheral nerve injury. Among the common effective occupational therapy's...

Author: Iveta Duchatschová Institute: Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague Název práce: Kinesiotherapy and physical therapy in peripheral facial nerve paresis Supervisor: Mgr. Bohumila Horká Number of parties: 83 Number of attachments: 0 Year of defence: 2012 Key words: peripheral palsy, facial nerve, kinesiotherapy, physical therapy, regimen measurements, cranial nerves, facial muscles The thesis summarizes basic knowledge of Peripheral facial nerve palsy. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy of facial nerve, aetiology of paresis, epidemiology of this disease, clinical symptoms, medical examination and possible treatments. The individual methodologies from the physiotherapy that may be applied in different combinations during the medial rehabilitation procedures in order to achieve the best possible effects are analysed in more detail. Another point of the thesis is the regimen measurements that the patients should follow in order to prevent potential complications or deterioration. The theoretical knowledge is followed by practical part, which examines the case study of two patients with facial nerve palsy diagnosis. It focuses on the medical examination of the state of the disease done by physiotherapist, therapy used in these particular cases and results that the therapy...
