The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to design a nearly-zero-energy building. The level of documentation is for the building permit. First part focuses on architectural and structural design, as well as on Building Physics and Fire Safety, the second part on building service design. The designed detached house stands on a flat site in Lipník nad Bečvou. It is a two-storey house with an attached single storey garage. Both the house and the garage have flat green roofs. The main entrance is oriented to the north. On the first floor, there is a hallway, a utility room, a bathroom, an office, and a living room connected with a kitchen and a pantry. The private part of the house is on the second floor, which consists of a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, two other bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet and a laundry room. The foundations are made of foam glass. The vertical structures are from sand lime blocks. The horizontal load-bearing structures are made of in-situ reinforced concrete. The heating is provided by a heat pump air-water using an underfloor heating system. The heat pump in combination with two solar thermal panels supply heating of the domestic water. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery is installed and used in the house. The documentation for MVHR is on the level of detailed design. Wastewater treatment, electric installations and rainwater system are also designed. The rainwater is collected mainly from the roofs and stored in an underground water tank. This water is then used for flushing the toilet and in summer months for watering the garden. This part about building service design also includes the Building’s Energy Performance Certificate.

Inorganic thermal insulation material for masonry elements
Sedlačík, Martin ; Švec, Jiří (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with preparation of foam glass and explores the possibilies of utilization of this material as an inorganic thermal insulating filler of fired hollow bricks. Foam glass was prepared via powder sintering method from waste packaging glass, using limestone and graphite as foaming agents. After inital analysis of raw materials, the effect of mixture composition and different processing parameters on bulk density, pore size and morphology of foam glass was investigated. Last but not least, different ways of manufacturing thermal insulating bricks, by preparation of foam glass directly in the cavities of fired hollow bricks, were tested.
