Brachytherapy treatment from the perspective of nurses and patients
KULAJEC, Teťana
Brachytherapy is a form of radiotherapy, where the source of radiation is placed in a short distance of the carcinoma. The most common indications for brachytherapeutic treatment are oncogynecological malignancies. This bachelor's work aimed to identify nurse's role in taking care of a patient treated with intracavitary brachytherapy, patient's experience with nursing care provided while being intracavitary brachytherapeuticaly treated and to map the specifics of nursing care connected with intracavitary brachytherapeutic treatment. Secondly, I focused on complications develope during brachytherapy and the possibilities of how a nurse can prevent these complications. To accomplish my aims I used quantitative research in half-structured interviews with nurses and patients. Then I analysed the results using open coding method pencil-paper, and so analysed results were categorized in consequence. The first research group was made up of four nurses, who are working at brachytherapeutic operating-room. The second group was made up of six patients, chosen with the method of intended selection, for whom there was a criterion of suffering from an oncogynecological illness, whether currently or in the past, which was treated with brachytherapy. There was found out, that the role of a nurse working at a brachytherapeutic operating-room is mostly about providing nursing care. She only fulfilled the educational role when introducing the process of brachytherapy itself, but not when introducing preventing complications. According to other statements, there was found out, that nurses only provide this kind of education when asked by the patient directly. When asked about the specifics of nursing care, answers from respondents did not differ at all. Despite the absence of education, the care provided by nurses and collaboration with patients was rated positively and their approach was found professional. Some patients claimed that the nurse also helped them to stay psychically stable. The results showed that the incidence of complications after brachytherapeutic treatment seemed a little wider to patients, than to nurses. The results of the research might be used as a topic of a suggestion to a seminar concerned about this problematic.
Prevention of oncogynecological diseases from the perspective of the general public.
Mrázová, Miroslava ; Šimonová, Daniela (advisor) ; Kocián, Roman (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of oncogynecological prevention. Lack of information on the importance of preventive examinations and ignorance of the severity of oncogynecological diseases leads women to the absence of regular or timely visits to the gynecologist. These epidemiological data verify the severity of the matter. The theoretical part of the thesis creates a comprehensive source of information on the possibilities of oncogynecological problems from basic terminology through diagnostics, types of examination methods, treatment options and risk factors of disease occurrence. Other chapters describe primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary prevention. They also include a description of midwife's tasks in the prevention and care of oncogynecological patients. The practical part is concerned with the analysis of a questionnaire survey that used a quantitative questionnaire method with 250 respondents. The aim of work was to determine the level of awareness of the general public, both woman and men, about the possibilities and importance of prevention of oncogynecological diseases and to draw attention to the significance of gynecological examinations at any age of a woman. The research has shown that it is necessary to educate the public in the area of gynecological prevention...

My bachelor thesis deals with the quality of life in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. The aim of the thesis is to assess the quality of life of this group of patients in the period after the completion of treatment and the influencing factors, and to compare the differences in the assessment of the quality of life for various time intervals from the completion of treatment. The theoretical part of the thesis gives an overview of cervical cancer, including the epidemiology, risk factors, classification, diagnosis, therapy and its early and late side effects, and the prevention of the disease. Definition of the quality of life is given together with the significance of the assessment of the quality of life. The empirical part is aimed to find out the subjective assessment of the quality of life and the level of functional status of the patients. The aims of the thesis and working hypotheses are defined, methods of the survey are described and the group of patients surveyed is presented. Patients were surveyed with a non-standardized questionnaire and the questionnaires for the assessment of the quality of life EORTC QLQ C-30 and QLQ CX-24. The data are presented in the form of graphs and tables with comments. The results of the survey are given together with their comparison to other...
Role of the midwife in tumour dinease prevention
NESNÍDALOVÁ, Ivana
This bachelor thesis deals with the role of midwives in the prevention of cancer. The role of the midwife as an educator in this field is very important and it is based on her competencies. The bachelor thesis is focused mainly on primary and secondary prevention of cancer. Midwives should use their knowledge in the field of cancer prevention and provide as much information to women as possible. They should endeavour to establish a relationship with a woman, based on trust and convince her that the information it provides are necessary. The greater women's awareness contributes to the greater participation in the screening programs. It can also change the style of their health to the better direction. The first goal of the thesis was to determine if midwives educate their clients in the prevention of cancer. The second goal investigated if women want information on cancer prevention by midwives and the third goal was required to determine if women use the opportunity to cancer prevention. The research survey took the form of a qualitative survey. The used methods were interrogation and interview techniques. The research sample consisted of midwives working in outpatient facilities and women older than 18 - years. The first research group consisted of 10 women over 18 - years. The second research group consisted of seven midwives working in an outpatient facility. The first research question dealt with the way midwives educate clients in the prevention of cancer. Midwives use primarily interview with the client, they also often offer leaflets containing this issue to the clients. Interviews with women showed that the midwives give them minimal information. Thus, it is important to increase the motivation of midwifery education in the prevention of cancer so they will want to pass their knowledge to the clients. The second research question dealt with the way women get information about cancer prevention. Women most often replied that they got the information mostly from their gynecologist and also from this information leaflets. All of them reported that they would welcome more information even from a midwife. The third research question dealt with women´s insight into the prevention of cancer. Women perceive cancer prevention as important, but in spite of the information they have, not all preventive measures are compiled. Therefore, there is the right place to encourage women to participate in screening programs and follow the principles of a healthy lifestyle. The research showed that midwives should be able to educate women more about breast self-examination, since no woman in the research group did this examination. Attention should be paid to the education of midwives in the colorectal cancer screening. This research shows that the education by midwives is required. Midwives should be motivated to educate their clients in the prevention of cancer and also they should be supported to get more education in this area. Since the midwives pointed to the lack of time for an education in an outpatient facility, it would be appropriate if the midwives could educate students in primary schools, students in secondary schools and colleges about these information. It is also important to focus the education on elderly clients, as they often do not use the screening programs and they come to the doctor after the symptoms appear. Given to the results of the thesis, the educational material for women was created to simplify education in this field for the midwives and also to simplify better orientation in the prevention of cancer for women.
Woman education after surgery for malignant of female geniatale
ELLINGEROVÁ, Zdeňka
The theme of my bachelor´s thesis is Education of women after surgery for malignant disease of the genitals. In the thesis I write about care and selfcare of women after gynecological surgery. I find out in whitch part of selfcare are women educated. The thesis is divided into chapters to clarify all technical terms. The first chapter is about anatomy of female genitals and examinig methods in gynecology. In the next chapter I write about classification of malignant disease of female genitals, I describe their specifics, manifestations, examinig methods and possible treatment. Some of gynecological malignant disease are operable, so I describe surgical approaches too. Further are described oncology centers, thein equipment and how many are there in the Czech republic. The next chapter is about a role of midwife in care of women after surgery for malignant disease of the genitals, and of course a psychological approach with oncology patients, becouse oncology disease is a very dificult life situation. And it is midwife´s mission to help these women. All of midwifes should know this psychological approach. The last chapter is about nursing, nursing process in care of oncological patients and about education. I describe an education about care of surgical wound and protect of infection, diet and emptying, pain and its relief, movement and sexual life after a surgery. The objectiv of my thesis was to find out chat women knouw about selfcare, if they understand the informations. I used qualitative method structured interview, in the research part of thesis. The interview I did with 8 patients of gynekology department in a Hospital České Budějovice a.s. the structured interview have 13 questions. The patients are different ages, have different level of education and different surgery approaches. I set 3 research questions: Want the women to know more information about their health condition? Are the informations of midwifes undestandable or very professional? Observe the women recommendations of midwifes? Eight interviews show that the rate of the submitted informations is sufficient, women know how to take care of yourself. And they know, if they need anything can ask a midwife. On the second did not answer all women equally. Two of the women said, they did not understand all of the midwifes said. They wanted less technical terms. Six of the women understood all. The third question answered all women equally. They observed the recommendations of midwifes. The research shows women are satisfied with nursing care after surgery. The level of informations is enough to care of yourself. They are satisfied with midwifes´care on the gynaecological department. All af women are educated about specifics of their type of surgery, care of surgery wound, hygiene, protect of infection, diet, emptying, sexual life after release from hospital. I think this tehsis can be used as an educational material for midwifes or students of midwife.
