New forms of development co-operation: case study of Czech Official development Assistance in Ethiopia

This diploma thesis deals with current trends in development co-operation. It defines what we now understand under the term new forms of development co-operation. The aim is to explore if Czech Republic use these new forms of development co-operation. The aim will be reached through the case study of Czech Official Development Cooperation in Ethiopia, one of the priority countries of Czech Official Development Assistance.
Developing a global partnership for development in contemporary Sub-Saharan Africa

The thesis deals with the Goal 8 of the Millennium Development Goals called "Develop a global partnership for development" and monitor its fulfilment in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The emphasis is laid on three important areas included in the Goal 8 and these are official development assistance, access of developing countries on markets of developed countries and external debt burden of developing states. The aim of the thesis is to capture present development in these areas by selected official indicators, which were set by United Nations, compare their current development with the initial year 1990 and on the basis of available data from past three years assess probable future progress in the mentioned areas. Final part of the thesis includes case study of selected Sub-Saharan countries, Ghana and Lesotho.
European Union Development Policy

My bachelor thesis describes a history of the European Union Development Policy. It shows a development of the policy from the beginning of formation of the integration to the current situation. It concerns the topic of funding. It involves five states of the European Union which play a key role in funding of Official Development Assistance. The thesis analyses how these donors affect the development aid. Finally, two programs (European and American) focusing on the issue of food security are evaluated.
Remittances and their comparison with ODA in selected countries of West Africa

This bachelor thesis compares remittances and official development assistance in Ghana and Nigeria. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part the reader is familiar with the theoretical definition of remittances and ODA. The second part describes the situation in the area of remittances in Ghana and Nigeria - including the quantification of the flows of remittances. This section also describes the use and transfer of remittances in the region. The last part compares ODA and remittances in Ghana and Nigeria. The comparison is done primarily by quantification of both flows and their impact on the population and economy of the country. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader some useful information about remittances and ODA in Ghana and Nigeria.
Spanish International Development Cooperation

The bachelor thesis deals with the state of Spanish international development cooperation in the course of past several years. The aim of the work is to analyse this state through the description of selected principal components and indirectly to outline economic, political and social aspects of Spanish development aid. Therefore the first part of the work concerns the general characteristic of international development cooperation and development policy of advanced countries. The core is the analysis of this cooperation in Spain, where its historical development, institutional capacity, development policy of the chosen country, bilateral and multilateral aid, non-governmental sector, humanitarian aid and aid effectiveness are described. On the basis of these components general evaluation of Spanish development cooperation is made in the closing part of the work.
Some aspects of economic diplomacy on the example of Czech Republic and New Zealand

The paper analyses relations between economic diplomacy and foreign development assistance. The ground of the analysis constitutes theoretical and practical concept of foreign development aid provided by the Czech republic and New Zealand set into the scope of economic diplomacy. The approaches of indicated countries are compared in aspect of total volume, territorial and issue allocation and the potential to utilize foreign development aid as a tool of economic diplomacy is assessed.
EU Development Policy - Assistance and Cooperation

The bachelor thesis examines external relations of the European Union with developing countries. It seeks causes of the asymmetry of economic development in the world, describes the EU's development policy since establishment of its predecessor, the European Community, and the development cooperation of its member, the Czech Republic. Finally, in a form of a questionnaire survey, it investigates the attitudes of Czech and Slovak students to international development cooperation and compares it with the public opinion of EU-27 nations.
