Methods of Preparation and Characterization of Experimental Field-Emission Cathodes

Téma doktorské práce se zabývá přípravou a popisem katod na bázi autoemise, jenž představují kvalitní a levný elektronový zdroj pro zařízení pracující s fokusovaným elektronovým svazkem. Pro přípravu kompozitní autoemisní katody byla využita elektrochemická metoda výroby. Kompozitní struktura katody zlepšuje proudovou stabilitu ve srovnání s čistě autoemisními katodami na bázi wolframu. Na základě charakterizace katody, jenž byla nově provedena metodou šumové spektroskopie, byla implementována technologická zlepšení stávající výroby. Metoda šumové spektroskopie je založena na analýze emisního proudu v časové a kmitočtové rovině, ale především poskytuje informace o nosiči náboje, o jeho pohyblivosti a dále o životnosti katody. Výsledky experimentální části byly rozšířeny teoretickými simulacemi, vedoucími k návrhu metodiky charakterizace vylepšené autoemisní katody.

This thesis contains glossary topic of spectroscopic measurement methods in broad bands of frequency. There is designed experimental measurement method for simple samples and biological samples measurements for noise spectroscopy in frequency range of 0,1 – 6 GHz, using broadband noise generator. There is realized the workplace and the measurement method is verified by measuring on selected samples. Measurements a displayed and analyzed.

This thesis deals with a glossary topic in the field of noise spectroscopy and spectroscopic measurement techniques in a wide range of frequencies. There was designed measuring workplace for noise spectroscopy with a description its parts and experimental measurement method for measure samples in frequency range of 0.1 – 6 GHz by using broadband noise generator. Software support for automated measurement of samples was created in Agilent VEE. The last part of the work is devoted to measurement of samples and evaluating measurement results.
Noise behaviour of field emission cathode based on lead pencil graphite

The paper describes electrical noise of experimental field emission cathodes based on “polymer” pencil leads which have a high content of hybridized carbon with a low degree of surface oxidation and silicon monoxide (SiO). Charge transport within experimental samples is evaluated based on results provided by the noise spectroscopy method. The paper also briefly describes the experimental preparation method of graphite tips based on ion milling which allow obtaining ultrasharp tips of a diameter lower than 100 nm.

This paper presents mainly noise diagnostics of pn junctions local defects in a singlecrystalline silicon solar cells structure. Research consists of a non-destructive measurement methodology of reverse-biased junction in solar cells. Diagnostics of defect areas in this documents are based especially on measurement of noise power spectral density, measurement of the radiation emitted from defects in visible range and I-V characteristic measurement.
