Comparison of shoulder joint rotation ranges in relation to anthropometric measures in baseball and softball pitchers
Jelínková, Kateřina ; Žáková, Lenka (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: Comparison of the shoulder joint rotation in relation to anthropometric measures in baseball and softball pitchers Objectives: The main objective of this study was to compare the ranges of shoulder joint rotations in male baseball and softball pitchers due to differences in pitching biomechanics. Furthermore, to determine the difference in range of motion to rotations on the dominant and non-dominant upper extremity and to determine the prevalence of glenohumeral internal rotation deficits of the shoulder. The subject was also investigated to find possible relationships between measured anthropometric (HK length, arm span, biacromial width) values and goniometric values of range of motion into rotations including the prevalence of glenohumeral deficit. Methods: The research sample included 20 actives Czech Extraliga baseball and softball players, who were divided by sport for the purpose of the study. The baseball group included 10 probands (10 male, aged 25.1 ± 3.5 years, height 185.5 ± 7.8 cm, weight 93.7 ± 9.7 kg, years baseball of participation 14.9 ± 3.8 years). The softball group also included 10 probands (10 male, aged 23.1 ± 2.5 years, height 183.2 ± 8.1 cm, weight 88 ± 11.9 kg, years softball of participation 12.2 ± 1.8 years). None of the players reported an upper extremity injury...
Analysis of overhead throw in baseball
Zelený, Michal ; Süss, Vladimír (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
 Title: Analysis of overhead throw in baseball  Objectives: to describe the work of muscles musculus trapezius dexter, sinister and musculus pectoralis major dexter, sinister during the classic side overhead throw, the throw without using left arm, the front throw, the pitch from the floor and the pitch from the pitching hill using the surface electromyography; to compare all types of the throws and to determine the differences between them  Methods: surface elektromyography, video content analysis  Results: based on the results of the analysis we can say, that the activity of the chosen muscles during the various types of throws differs in intensity and in the duration of action potencial as well  Keywords: baseball, surface elktromyography, overhead throw, throw without using left hand, front throw, pitch
Analysis of baseball pitch
Josefus, Lukáš ; Süss, Vladimír (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Analysis of baseball pitch Objectives: describe the aktivity of muscles during the baseball pitch, regular throw, front throw and throw without using left arm in baseball by surface electromyograpgy, compare the baseball pitch and other throw during a movement Methods: surface electromyography, videorecord Results: on the basis of analysis, i can assert, the aktivity of muscles during a baseball pitch is different in aktivity and also in intensity from other hindes of throw Keywords: baseball, electromyography, baseball pitch, overhead throw, regular throw, front throw, throw without left arm Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Analysis of the toss and impact in the tennis serve
Tyl, Slavomír ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tůma, Martin (referee)
Title: Analysis of the toss and impact in the tennis serve Objectives: The objective of our work is to analyse the phase of toss and hit in tennis serve and to compare the results between the players themselves. Methods: As the main method of data collection we used kinematic 3D analysis. Additional method was semi-structured interview with selected players for research. Results: We found that more stable performance at the phase of toss and hit achieves the player with the higher position on the tennis ranking. Furthermore we found that the ball in all serves was hit in front of the players body. The largest range of variation (most unstable) in both players was width M, that means hitting ball in a frontal plane in consideration of the vertical axis Y established by left foot tip designed by the server's. Conversely the most stable in both players was height of shoulders when hit. Keywords: tennis serve, toss, hit, kinematic 3D analysis
