ADÁŠKOVÁ, Gabriela
This bachelor's thesis introduces the possibilities of incorporating art therapy techniques and topics into case work. The author presents some specifics of foster care and presents insight into guidance of foster families. The thesis briefly discusses the history and present of foster care, mentions the issue of child and family adaptation and focuses, among other things, on the early trauma and psychosocial deprivation of the foster child and the reflection of trauma and psychological hardship in the child's artistic creation. The author used art therapy as a tool of the case worker to support communication in the foster family and to build a positive identity of the adopted child. In the practical part, the author presents concrete examples of incorporating art therapy into case work with the foster family, and above all with a foster child - innovative work with the so-called Book of Life (Kniha zivota in czech). The thesis investigates, among other things, whether early trauma and psychosocial deprivation are reflected in the development of adopted children and whether the mitigation of trauma due to the influence of the family environment is evident. The thesis also outlines the issue of biological children in a foster care and looks for distinctiveness in their artistic expression.

Children's and minors' needs, particularities of individual development phases in childhood and maturing, are described in this work as well. The suitability of children's homes and foster care, based on opinions of the authors of professional publications and ideas of professional public, are mentioned in the second part of the work. In conclusion, a part of this work commits to the way electronic mass media deal with this issue and which point of view they transfer to the non-professional public. The main result of the diploma thesis is that these three groups predominantly prefer the foster care to children's home. The diploma thesis "A journey of a child from own family to a foster family - Substitute family care in the Czech republic" deals with the problematics of substitute family care focusing on foster family care. Institutional education is being taken into account as well, since it represents one of the possibilities of a child's placement out of own family. Because it is a priority and for the good of a child to grow up in a family environment, institutional education should be used only as the last possible solution. The Czech republic has been often criticised for having too high amount of children growing up in institutions and for infringing the rights arising from the Convention on the Rights of the Child. In this context foster family care and possible establishment of professional foster family care has currently been discussed in the Czech republic. Even the nowaday's system of foster family care is not spared from criticism. The solution for this system of care for children without family background inheres in establishment of professional foster family care which allows children, who cannot grow up in their bilogical families and who are not (for legal or actual reasons) suitable for adoption, to grow up in family environment. Attention is payed to experiences from foreign countries with a special...

In the theoretical part there are the system of substitutional parental care in the Czech Republic and its limitation in law being described. In detail the text focuses on kinship caregiving and points out difficulties the grandparents are confronted with. Further on, the text describes current system of social work with these families, as it is set in the Czech Republic. Mail goal of the work is to present some sort of map of main difficulties, these grandparent caregiveners have to face, especially when we put these into the context with the problems on the biological parents side, that caused this state. To meet this goal, I set one research question, chose qualitative research strategy and the method of half-structured interview. I chose the research file by the method of stratificational intentional choice. So that I divided the basic file into several groups according to the type of the main problem, which was the cause of the state, and chose one representative of each group. The interviews were divided into particular topic categories using the cluster method and those were further analysed. This work can serve as a source of information about this families of caregiving grandparents for social workers in non-profit organizations that works with them, especially in the south bohemia region, where the research was made. Because we can presume, that the group of these families will rather get bigger in the future.
