Mycological settlement of imunocompromised patients
Kozlíková, Magdaléna ; Voxová, Barbora (advisor) ; Janďourek, Ondřej (referee)
The aim of this work is to find out the species spectrum of yeast culture from rectal swab specimens in hematooncological patients from the University Hospital in Hradec Králové and to compare it with the results from the respiratory tract. In 2017, rectal swabs from patients with haematological malignancies and their subsequent cultivation on Sabouraud agar were performed. The same procedure was used to cultivate the respiratory tract samples. Results from both cultures were recorded in the laboratory information system and processed in MS Excel. 311 patients were included in this study, where 147 had positive findings in rectal cultivation and 120 patients were cultured from the respiratory tract. Among isolated yeasts in rectum was C. albicans (42 %), which is consistent with world-wide published results. Other isolated yeasts were C. glabrata (22 %) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (10 %). Compared to respiratory tract results, 28 % of patients had identical findings, 22 % had at least one of the same yeast and 14 % had both positive but different findings. 36 % of patients had negative airway findings. The most commonly isolated yeast in haemato-oncological patients is the same as worldwide data. Other species spectrum varies depending on the country where the study was conducted. Key words:...

Use of Educational CD-ROMs in Science and Biology Teaching at Lower and Upper Secondary Schools
Vačkářová, Kateřina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee) ; Jedličková, Tereza (referee)
Information and communication technologies (ICT) are a daily part of everyone's life. Therefore in this work I continue in topic of my thesis, in which I created and verified in practice educational program (software) "Microbiology". The aim of this work was to create, publish and verify in practice educational programs for teaching microbiology, mycology and protozoology at lower and secondary schools. I tried to unify terms used in these scientific areas and to create high-quality sources of information. Due to its easy availability (CD-ROM, internet), interactive sections, a number of images, texts, experiments, fun games, quizzes and other attractions educational programs can enhance traditional teaching mechanism of biology in all types of schools. This work includes a content analysis of biologically oriented educational programs currently available in the Czech Republic. It describes my own programs ("Microbiology", "Mycology" and "Protozoology") and processes the results of evaluation of programs by teacher lower and upper secondary schools. Teachers' opinions I statistically evaluated using questionnaires. The results show that lower secondary schools teachers use educational programs more often than upper secondary schools teachers. It is also showed that the most teachers use education...

Experimental mycology: present state and future perspectives
Šašek, Václav
The experimental mycology has distinguished from the "classic" mycology that has been mainly directed to the taxonomy and systematic of fungi. The origin, current state and possible future development of the research field of experimental mycology is described in the lecture.
