Hořavová, Maria ; Vybíral, Roman (advisor) ; Tuláček, Michal (referee)
Autonomous Vehicles Liability Insurance Abstract The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of autonomous vehicles and its liability insurance as it is a very current topic, as evidenced by extensive discussions across the professional and lay public. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the currently existing legal framework at national, EU and international level and to clarify whether the current legal framework is sufficient for the operation of autonomous vehicles. The liability insurance system itself and the principles of its operation are also analysed with regard to their suitability for autonomous transportation. Where deficiencies are identified, de lege ferenda considerations are outlined, and expected changes as well as appropriate solutions are identified. In addition, the diploma thesis provides a meaningful introduction to the principles of autonomous vehicles and discusses other areas closely related to liability insurance for damage caused by the operation of autonomous vehicles. The diploma thesis is divided into five separate chapters. These chapters are structured in such a way that the reader first gains an understanding of the topic and becomes familiar with the complex system of autonomous vehicles. In the first chapter, the reader is introduced to the concept of an autonomous...
Harmonisation of Motor Third Party Liability Insurance in compliance with EC Law
Žulavská, Lucie ; Karfíková, Marie (advisor) ; Vybíral, Roman (referee)
Harmonisation of Motor Third Party Liability Insurance in compliance with EC Law Motor Third Party Liability Insurance is recently facing major changes, not only from EC point of view, but from national perspective as well, mainly due to technological development as well as due to the enormous pressure set on vehicles accident victims protection, ie. their appropriate compensation from Motor Third Part Liability (further known as MTPL) cover. Main consequence of above mentioned fact is a clear definition of the vehicle that falls under the obligation of MTPL. However just the simple extension of the vehicle definition that way, that even escooters and sagways fall under the scope, would not be considered as a sufficient measure taken to sort of eliminate the number of severe claims and bodily injuries caused by these vehicles in most of the EC states. It is more than necessary that every single member state will come with substantial measures on national level to sort of regulate on legal basis the traffic rules of these new kind of vehicles. However, it is currently obvious that member states opinions are far from any common decision on this topic concerning measures to decrease the number of claims and furthermore to restrict the use of these vehicles in respective environment. There is another...

Motor Third Party Liability in the European Context
Jašíčková, Darina ; Karfíková, Marie (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
MTPL insurance represents a complex issue regulating in particular protection of the third party in a claim settlement. This area is regulated on the EU law level by Council Regulations and Motor Insurance Directives as well by the green cards system and Hague Convention on the Law applicable to traffic accidents on the international level. To provide MTPL insurance in the European Union is possible under the single European passport but there are still persisting the differences in the extent of insurance cover and liability in the particular Member States including the national regulation requirements. The primary condition for MTPL insurance providing in the EU/EEA is the obligatory membership of the insurer in the national Insurers' Bureau and the Guarantee Fund. The Court of Justice of the European Union relevant decisions has contributed to the interpretation of Motor Insurance Directives provisions and to determination of their correlation to national legislations. From the future perspective is of the importance the legislation process of the PEICL draft. The Czech legislation is fully in compliance with the EU law. Legal practice and court decision shall face to the principal changes in connection with the new Civil Code application since 1, January 2014. Especially in the area of injury...
Pricing in non-life insurance
Ondrušková, Markéta ; Mertl, Jakub (advisor) ; Mazurová, Lucie (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to determine the premium of motor third party liability insurance. Thesis explores both direct approach to premium cal- culation and calculation using separately calculated claims frequency and claims severity. Emphasis is put on the use of generalized linear models whose theory is also present. Described approaches to calculation are applied on real world data, compared with each other and then final model for premium calculation is selec- ted. Premium is determined with the inclusion of IBNR reserves and expenses. Keywords: generalized linear model, claims frequency, claims severity, net pre- mium, gross premium, motor third party liability insurance, bonus-malus. 1

Determinants of claim occurrence: case of Motor Third Party Liability insurance
Novotný, Jakub ; Bolcha, Peter (advisor) ; Potužák, Pavel (referee)
In this paper the hypotheses related to individual variables used for segmentation of Motor Third Party Liability (MTPL) insurance by Czech insurance companies are tested. Summary of papers focused on this topic and development of insurance market segmentation in European Union are presented in the first part of this thesis. The first part of this paper is extended by the analysis of actual MTPL segmentation in Czech Republic. The estimation of marginal effects of exogenous variables on probability of occurrence a claim is described in empirical part. For the estimation of parameters I use the logistic regression. Specific models for small and large claims are created. The most significant variables positively correlated with probability of occurrence a claim are engine capacity, young age and region Prague. The most significant variables negatively correlated with probability of occurrence a claim are historical car, old age, number of months without any claim and region South Moravia. My results are compared to the results of other papers.
Does Bonus-Malus System Encourage Drivers to be More Responsible on the Roads?
Línová, Veronika ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Šťastný, Daniel (referee)
This thesis is focused on the question whether implementing of a malus policy into a bonus-malus system encourages drivers to be more responsible on the road. The drivers should be motivated to change their behaviour be aimed at decrease of reported insurance events because this system increases their premium whenever they are in an accident. To answer the given problem I used regression analysis with a random effects model and I analysed the drivers registered at insurance company Allianz in years 2000 - 2005. The result of this analysis shows that there was no change in the behaviour since the malus policy was introduced. The examined impact has been detected in case which was interacting with a different variable. The malus policy had the impact on a reduction of accidents in regions below 10 000 inhabitants. This thesis is also focused on the influence of driver characteristic and technical properties of his vehicle on reported insurance events. Tested variables are sex of the drivers, region of driver's residence, age and engine capacity. All explanatory variables have effect on the reported insurance events.
