Employee privacy protection

This thesis deals with the issue of privacy in the workplace. Employees expect to have some privacy at work, even when they are using the employer's equipment. On the other hand, employers need basic information about their employees and they have the right to know that work is being done properly and efficiently. Finding the balance between the interests of both sides is quite complicated and the disputes regarding privacy infringement in the workplace are often decided by highest courts. In concrete, this thesis deals with the processing of personal data in the employment context and with the surveillance of employees. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of this issue and assess the current level of protection of privacy of employees in Czech Republic. The thesis is composed of nine chapters. The first introductory part of this thesis (chapters 2 - 4) describes the fundamental human right to privacy and personal data protection in general. Chapter Two characterises the right to privacy and chapter Three gives an overview of relevant legal sources. Hercík, J. Protection of Privacy and Personal data of Employees in a Business Organization. Master's thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2017. The thesis is focused on the protection of personal data and privacy under an employment relationship. The main aim of this thesis is to suggest specific corrective measures to a business organization in order to ensure an alignment between its current situation and the legislation of the Czech Republic. The literary research represents an introduction to the topic of personal data protection and privacy. Definitions of its basic concepts are put into context of the legislation of the Czech Republic. The original research part contains an analysis of personal data protection and privacy measures in a chosen business organization throughout its complete process from staff selection to termination of employment. As a result of a comparison between this analysis and the current legislation of the Czech Republic, proposals to introduce specific corrective measures are presented.

Monitoring of Employees with Android Phone

This paper deals with the monitoring of selected activities on portable mobile devices running Android and subsequent processing of data using a web application. Phone calls, text messages and location are meant by these activities. It introduces an existing application which serves to monitor. It also includes the analysis of monitoring capabilities of selected activities on mentioned devices. Then it includes a specification, design, implementation, demonstration and testing of a new system designed to monitoring activities and data processing.
Monitoring employee activity - practices and tools

This thesis discusses surveillance in the work environment. The topic is too extensive, that´s the reason its focus is mainly on electronic employee monitoring. The basic concepts are explained in the beginning of the thesis, which is subsequently followed by a simple survey oriented on the opinions on employee surveillance. The center of this thesis is an analysis of legal, technical and ethical aspects, which also reviews different monitoring practices. Identified practices are used for defining monitoring possible scenarios. The contribution of this work is the evaluation of employee monitoring practices and establishing a ranking of monitoring tools that can serve as a decision making tool for organizations. This thesis uses not only theoretical knowledge from literature, but also incoporates comments and opinions from experts.
